Mick T.'s best moment?
Posted by: Elmo Lewis ()

After listening to GHS yesterday, I'd like to nominate "100 Years Ago". I know most feel it is "Time Waits For No One", but 100YA really cooks.

Yes, Sway is outstanding, too.

His solo on Love in Vain (Philly 72) and Brussels 73 (Tumbling Dice)
is also great.

I say this as a Ronnie FAN!

Lots of chioces - I also like "Heartbreaker" from Brussels.

Also, "Heartbreaker" from Led Zep! I think that's Jimmy Page, not MT on that 1!

MCDDTLC......that '72 Washington boot (Jack Daniels on Tour)is one of the best performances by the Stones ever imo....supposedly there was a bomb-threat that day.....and i have a feeling that the tension had something to do with their "play for our lives" performance at that show.....check out Mick T. on Gimme Shelter from D.C. '72.......smoking!!!

All down the line in 72, that was fantastic not his patent over the top live solo's but instead some great and unique slide, also STFTD in 69 was great both his and Keith's playing complimented each other really well and they had not played for very long together which is even more incredible.

Geez, there are too many to mention. Perhaps you should ask about his worst moments and narrow the list a bit!

Midnight rambler and You can't always get what you want Brussels 17 Oct 1973!
The entire recording is fantastic!
I always get excited when I listen to Love in vain on high-quality recording from anywhere.
But I agree that he rarely had bad moments. His guitar playing with the Stones is electrifying.
Listened recently to the Ventilator blues live recording from 1972 for the first time and was thrilled.

You can't compare Taylor with Wood because they are extremely different.

On a song with Alvin Lee from 1981 Nov - I Cant Stop - MT plays a wonderful glistening solo there are many to choose from.

you can put together a compilation of MT solos and easly put 50 to 75 on a CD
from his career and collaborations
