A classic rave-up by the Faces -- it's just a perfect single -- THIS is the Ronnie Wood that I love -- great distorted rhythm tone, great slide work -- this has it all. And the band -- my god, what a band!

a classic.........love that opening chord progression & geetar tone....that intro just grabs ya by the ears and doesnt let go...the distorted guitar intro of Rough Justice is reminiscent.........and Rod had some juice in his vocals in those days...........awesome tunage!!!

I've posted this before once:
one time on Howard Stern's show, Ronnie and Bernard showed up. After they gabbed a while, Howard's staff produced a guitar for him to play. While he was conversing Ron was re-tuning the guitar. Tyhe tuning he uses for SWM just screams to be played in those very riffs. I think it is almost inevitable when holding a guitar in that tuning to jam on "I know your name is Rita..."
Great tune. I love songs where you get into a rave up passage, that all rock together for a bar or two and then there is the short stop gap for every instrument to take a little spot.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

The b-side of Stay With Me was Miss Judy's Farm.

That's a one-two punch right up there with the best in rock history.

Agreed - the best rock and roll song every recorded - Rod and Ronnie were awesome together. I can only hope that they both live long enough to complete the album they started a few years back and tour together.............

I watched the movie "Wedding Crashers" last night, and "Stay With Me" was played right at the end before the credits. Put a big smile on my face!

While I love Stay with me, "Had ME a Real Good Time" is right up there with it imo.

The sound and lyrics have feel that reminds me of "Honky Tonk Women"

Great song. Just sad to see what has become of Rod, but SWM is just as good as it gets.

Which tuning does he use?
