Nicos, you've reminded me of a newspaper story here in the u.s.a. a few years back....of a man who was a professional electrician and a big country music fan......he used to hook up a reel to reel tape recorder directly into the components of the inside of the television and recorded hundreds of country artists from t.v. in the 50's and 60's....and the sound was a clear tv mono quality....everybody in his family thought he was insane as the tapes piled-up.....now dozens of record companies are after his treasure for official release ............by the way how does your tv recording of this sound?

It's out on many different labels and with many different names, but most of them are called something with Marquee in it. They played two shows at the Marquee club in London, one for friends and family, and one for fans. The best boot from the event is probably the one called "The Lost Marquee Tapes" (I think). Again, how is the quality of your recordings?

I was not as smart technicaly in that time as I am now.

I have to search for the tape I have a lot of boxes with stuff from that time, I will check it out someday, and I have to connect my tape recorder again.

As far I I know it was a big hall were the played is the Marquee big ?

The Marquee concert isn't that good, unfortunately.
The Leeds concert is musch better. But, even though I only have those 2 shows from 71, I've read that other shows earlier was MUCH better. It would have been cool if they really got it cooking at Marquee, while being filmed!

How is the London Roundhouse concert, performance-wise, compared to Leeds, Leonard? (I haven't heard that one.)

well, the Marquee does have one advantage: it's on DVD.
they were of course having assorted problems that night - most notably with the sound and with Harold Pendleton Jr -
but it's a gas to watch anyway, especially if you get the version that includes the raw footage and outtakes.
smile smile smile: Keith is in such a superbly disgraceful state! Mick keeps trying to look disapproving but he can't help being charmed.

Charmed is the right wordsmiling smiley Musically it's terrible! Though there are some good moments like "I Got The Blues"... They probably did concerts a lot better than this during the ninth British tour "Good Bye Britain".

ohhh it's not that bad - well okay some of it is pretty bad. :E
Rambler even cracks the band up - which is not what one wants from Rambler, but ... hey, a change is as good as a rest!
Bitch is fine, both times! as is I Got the Blues before Mick makes the mistake of looking over at Keith and getting rendered speechless. :E
in short: i get great joy out of the Marquee gig.
