Not doing it for the money
Posted by: Pserchia ()

Someone posted here that the Stones are performing in the Super Bowl halftime show for the money. According to a piece in today's Los Angeles Times, that is not true.

"Not only did the Stones agree to participate, they agreed to do the halftime show for Super Bowl XL (40 for you non-Latin speakers) gratis, even paying for some of their own special effects."

This is a nice accidental circumstance but not the intention of doing this.

Nico

Ps. I know that those people who have a lot a lot of money they still want more, only I can not understand it.

I still don't believe it, just read an article of people who like it to be on the television as an addiction and not for the money.

fact is that when any artist plays a show for nothing thats being televised worldwide, they will make a financial killing in the increase in album sales that will naturally occur following a performance seen by hundreds of millions of people

Same happened with every act who played Live Aid or Live 8 (although at least Pink Floyd had the good grace to announce that they would divert all resultant profits to charity) - and the same will happen with the Stones if they produce a competent performance tomorrow night

It will also increase ticket sales for the rest of their tour.

They might not be playing it directly for the money in terms of a fee, but they're certainly using it to promote their back catalogue, their new album and their current tour. As anyone else would do.

I don't know why people can't believe the Stones. They say they're not doing it for the money. Why should that be a lie???

Yes I really do believe they are not doing it for the money.

How much money you think they have on their account ?
10.000.000
50.000.000
100.000.000
250.000.000

Mick is doimg it because of his addiction
Keith because he love to play
Charly do you relealy think if you had cancer you care about money ?
Ronnie I don't know
the rest of the bandprobable

Nico

I agree with NICOS. Esky: How do you know??? Do you have proof?

Re: Not doing it for the money

the proof is right in front of your eyes...
Look at the merchandise crap, the ticket prices, the continuing Tours....

I think the final say in all of this is where the Stones Tour. For instance, it seems unlikely the Stones will play many times in Australia (if at all)...why? Because it's too expensive !!!

Wow, this band loves it's fans....they don't Tour because of money...think about it.

So who cares, at least we still have them. With everything that's involved with tonights performance it could be one of The Stones best.

if the money was totally irrelevant, the shows would be on a smaller scale and the ticket prices would be a fraction of what they are now..just so that they break even (and before anyone asks, no, I wouldnt expect anyone to do this for nothing)

I cant believe you or anyone buy into this 'why would they lie to us' stuff and take everything they say at face value.
