Nobody seems to talk about this song!Is it as much hated as SOL?I think ASMB iswonderful and heartfelt..Jagger is very good on it ...he gives his all!I am afraid they gave up on this one. Loved it live to annd it did work..I loveit..but that said..here I think its gonna be the SOL of BTB?Wrong?

It was ok on the B2B album, but should not have been the first single.
It didn't really work on stage, IMO.

I must say I have always kind of liked it, even though......you know.
It's way better than SOL. If one listen to it, thinking that it is a Jagger solo-song, it feels more "right", and more enjoyable.
ASMB didn't work on stage, though.

I like the video, especially where Mick is singing to the guy through the little speaker in the subway token booth. I like the rap, too.

I thought is was pretty great, actually. Proof that the Stones are willing to push themselves into some new stuff. Way better than a lot of the tired posturing that's all over "ABB."

Also, the guitars are very harsh and percussive and cool on this track.

I saw someone write that they made it work onstage in Europe. I saw them do it five times during Fall, '97 leg and it was always a mess.

I like to not hear it.

Of course you're aware that they ripped this off from KD Lang's "Constant Craving". They knew a good thing when they heard it. KD has a great voice. It's just too damn bad she has to LOOK like that, though.

I have heard it on lots of recordings from US 97. But it sounded better on the 2 shows I attended, Austria and Norway.
So, I think you are correct, I had kind of forgotten about it.

The rap part is one of the most embarrassing Stones' moments.
Otherwise the song is ok.

I like the song other than the rap. Just another venture into funk land, and much better than some of the other trips there (Jugular, Emotional, etc.).

IMO the best parts of ASMB are not the "ripped off" parts.

Don't undertand the bad rap this song gets with us. Excellent groove on Bass, Jagger, melody. The rap-thing was such a dud, those few seconds were a violent turn-off and made everyone ahte the whole song. Then on tour, they couldn't let it be, actually made even more of a big deal about it. That rap thing should have been swept under the carpet quickly in the hopes that the fans didn't hear it and forgot about it.

Yeah but people don't like the rap part just because it's RAP. To me it sucks more because it's Biz Markie, who just sucks in general; if they picked something smarter to sample I wouldn't mind. If they had wanted to sweep the rap under the rung they wouldn't have put it in there in the first place.

Yeah, I haven't seen anybody here posting under the name of Biz Markie. Now you know why! Tupac would have been much cooler. Just kidding, I don't care much for rap. I refuse to call it rap music, because that implies some talent and skill went into it. Sorry, rap fans!

Mick did had problems with it...but in Europe he nailed the tune better...I love the desperate feel of this song..really and the times I saw it performed live...more than 10 times cant even remember!the rap always made the crowd wild!wich brings us back to the Rolling Stones rap issue...well I love that rap..on it and loved the rap on Time is on my side too!Oh yeah I like it!

The song's not bad at all, though I don't like the lite production touches. mick's vocal is nice -- it's tongue-in-cheek (lightly humorous), like Flip the Switch, which was a nice return after the witless Voodoo Lounge. It's not something I ever actively _want_ to hear, but I don't mind it. Biz Markie is a kind of cool choice for the rap, actually... though it doesn't add much to the song that I can hear.

I used to dislike it but now I find myself listening to it more. Even though it's not one of my favorites I love the fact that the try new stuff, they always did that so why shouldn't they do it now? I like the live versions of it, specially the one from the VH1 Awards. Saint Of Me is a better song though and should have been the first single.

I didn't like it the first time I heard it on the radio...I thought all the vocal layerings, especially toward the end, were a complete mess.

But, it grew on me, and now I like it quite alot. I really like Jagger's vocals.

I was at the St. Louis 1997 B2B show when they performed this song, and it was pretty lame at the concert. I understand why they didn't include it on the official concert DVD.

I like it, also played it with my band.
It works fine on stage and for the audience.
We didn't like the rap bit, so we left it out - no one misses it.

I can't remember where I picked it up from, but I read that Mick had this tune on his mind and thought it was his own genuine tune.
While they where playing the recorded track, Micks daughter (?) and friend where actually singing K.D.Lang's lyrics and Keith said he knew his was going to happen some day.
Keith made sure that Mick paid the royalties to K.D.Lang out of his own pocket, because it was Micks fault.

Ah, found it in Stephen Davis' book.
It was Bob Dylan at Ronnies house in Ireland.
