Has Mick ever worn a wig?
Date: January 30, 2006 20:34

When looking at pictures of Mick throughout the years, I've often wondered if he's ever worn a wig. For example, in 1985 around She's the Boss, his hair was relatively short, then look at the One Hit to the Body video and it is waaay long. Could it possibly grow that fast?

Also his hair in pix around the time of the Rock and Roll Circus and during 1972 tour seem inconsistent.

Whadya think? (Yes, I know the guys have worn wigs when dressing drag).

Don't be fooled by his new alias, it's our good 'ol Maverick. Can we expect him to revive the thread on UK Gigs as well?

Speaking from personal experience and me, myself wearing a hair weave type thing that fuses your real hair with fake hair (it's like a small hair cap)held by weaving parimiter hair with the hair cap (they shave the top part of your head or you'd sweat beyond the comedy level. Here's my take:

(sorry about the one hell of a run on sentence above, have not taken an english class in 15 yrs)

Not really sure if Mick wears one, if he does, it's a GREAT one. You can tell when people wear one if they have short hair, when they start to sweat a little you will see a seperation of the real and fake hair by the ears and back of the head. The real hair gets wet and sweaty, the fake hair maintains the treated color.

This was fairly evident when I took my mum to see Neil Diamond this past summer. We were 10 ft from the stage and the color seperation thing happened an hour into the show...slightly.

Also, people who tend to do these weaves, wear baseball hats when they are nowhere that's considered important and time restraints did not allow professional styling.

Mick and Neil have make-up and hair people who travel with them, I would doubt they stay in the same hotel and travel with them on off days. The last time I saw Neil Diamond offstage on a travel day..he was wearing a baseball cap. When I saw Mick back in September on a travel day, he was wearing a baseball cap.

People of wealth can afford several of the hair units and have work done and hair units swapped on them daily. The average putz like me, went through a few a year and it was expensive and at times looked really bad. I got rid of mine a few yrs back.

Make your own opinion about Mick, but just look if you have seats close enough look for the color seperation. You cannot tell by looking at a large screen at the show.

Jagger wears a wig at the Rock and Roll circus (too black to be Mick) and at the Hyde Park gig for sure. Bill Wyman mentions Mick wigs a couple of times in his Rolling With the Stones book.

I thought that the reason his hair was so dark at Rock'N Roll Circus was because he had to grow it long and dye it for PERFORMANCE! I heard that it was a wig for the Hyde Park gig because Mick was just back from Australia, the filming of Ned Kelly, and his hair was really short for that role; Brian died so unexpectedly and the Hyde Park show was thrown together rather quickly, thus the wig, and a very good one IMO, it looked great!

I wonder if Keith has ever tried to borrow Jagger's hair and been turned down. Jagger could at least give him the number of his wig maker.

Have you seen Bob Dylan with wig in Newport 2002. The audience were very surprised, I think.

it wasnt a wig either time, the circus hair was dyed and so was the hyde park hair, just look how he jumps around at hyde park with his hair flying all over the place, how could it be a wig , sorry MR WYMAN , but your book has a couple of mistakes

Performance was filmed Sept 12 - November 11 1968. Rock n Roll Circus was a month later. It sure looks similar at R&R Circus, although (naturally enough) a bit longer

I heard that it
> was a wig for the Hyde Park gig because Mick was
> just back from Australia, the filming of Ned

not correct. Mick only left for Australia to film Ned Kelly the day AFTER Hyde Park (6th July), which was the reason why he wasnt at Brian's funeral (he had delayed the start of filming already by some weeks to play the Hyde Park gig and the film's producers threatened to sue him if he left it any later.

The Hyde Park gig wasnt really thrown together that quickly. I might be wrong, but I would imagine it was officially announced on 13th June, the day that the band unveiled Mick Taylor at a press conference/photo shoot in the park. Jagger and Marianne had been at Blind Faith's Hyde Park gig the preceding Saturday (7th June) which is when he decided that the Stones should play the same place for Taylor's first gig.
