Road movies? Meaning, movies about being on the road? Well, there's only one for me and that's "Easy Rider". My favourite american road movie of all time. It's got everything: sex, drugs, rock and roll, and southern redneck truckers. How does it get better than that?

Don't watch "The Brown Bunny." It's terrible. My two cents.

"Dumb & Dumber" has a fair amount of driving.

I got one, perhaps it's not under the category "road movie", but it's kind of close. "Five Easy Pieces" with Jack Nicholson. It's about being...... well, hard to explain, but it's VERY worth seeking out.

"Two-Lane Blacktop" with Warren Oates and believe it or not James Taylor and Dennis Wilson in their black '55 Chevy, drag-racing across the u.s.a.......from 1971........and......."Duel" an early Steven Spielberg film from 1971 about a businessman (Dennis Weaver) driving through the an empty stretch of highway being chased for no reason by the psychotic driver of a giant oil-tanker

Yes, "Duel" is a simply-made classic, terrifying at times.

You gotta admit that sweet Chloƫ Sevigny knows what a blowjob is all about after watching The Brown Bunny. Lucky Vincent Gallo!!!! I love them dirty girlies.

I agree with Charles. Easy Rider is a damn cool rock'n'roll, Harley Davidson road movie, with great rock music from Steppenwolf. I also love Jack Nicholsen
in this movie. And one funny fact about easy rider: All drugs you see them use in the movie is real!

What about the original "Vanishing Point" made in the early 70's w/ Barry Newman if memory serves me correctly. One man, one Dodge Challanger, and all the law enforcemnet agencies in the southwest USA after him!!!!

What about 'Detroit Rock City' man, thats is a cool movie, plenty of good music in it all the way through, and funny too.

If you haven't seen it it's great - 4 lads on a trip to Detroit to see KISS. Great stuff!!

yeah Monkeytonkman...great & fun flick...for anybody who was a teen in the '70s....this is a must.....that actress who plays the insanely religious mom is hilarious.........also "IT'S A MAD,MAD,MAD,MAD WORLD" from 1963...with an all-star cast in this wacky "find the stolen loot" movie...lotta fun....and "HARRY & TONTO" from 1974 with Art Carney as an older New York man who takes his cat on a cross-country trip...great character study movie which earned Art Carney on Oscar....and for any film-noir fans: "DETOUR" from 1945 about a drifter who get blackmailed into crime by a psycho-lady...low budget, but a fine flick

Here is another Warren Oates and Peter Fonda movie, a horror, about two couples on vacation in a camper/trailer chased by satanists in west Texas. It is called "Race With the Devil" and it was just released on DVD a few months ago. I am not sure but I think it was originally a made for television movie from 1974, one of those "remember there was that movie that..."

LK, you mentioned "Duel". I can't figure out if it's a masterpiece or the cheesiest thing ever. Maybe it was Dennis Weaver that bothers me. Either way, it was much better than "Night of the Lepus". Remember that one - giant rabbits on the loose?

Dennis Weaver's panicky performance got me hooked into that movie
