If you look back on 40 years of music, the following band is obviously the "supergroup" of the late 1900's:
Drums: Hmmm.... by a nose I gotta go with Keith Moon over Jon Bonham here... Keiths a heavy banger but just a tad more jazzy than Jon, he's got gongs and a few more tricks... both great.
Lead Guitar: Stevie Ray Vaughan by a nose over Jimi Hendrix
Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards... more rhythm here than some bass players have
Acoustic Guitar: Willie Nelson vs. Glen Campbell... this band is getting complicated... sh*t... gotta pick one... Glen Campbell.
Bass: Flea by a mile
Lead Vocals: Mick Jagger
Piano: Elton John, nobody very close
Organ: Garth Hudson
Guest Lyricist: Dammmmmm.... I gotta choose between Bob Dylan and John Fogerty and Bruce Springsteen, and Robert Hunter, McCartney/Lennon... chit.... HEY... Gotta give credit where credit is due so gotta choose the songwriter's songwriter: Bob Dylan.
SO: WTF does the music of this band sound like ????
ANSWER: Very interesting... Because Flea is the obvious "odd man out"... so Flea would bring so much funk to this whole ensemble.... He'd bring out so much jazz in Keith Moon, EJ and Garth particularly... what a sound these cats could make.
What's your all-time mish-mash supergroup ???

Drums - Al Jackson, Jr. (Booker T.) Bass - Mike Mills (R.E.M.) Lead Guitar - James Burton Rhythm Guitar - Keith Richards & Steve Jones Vocals - Elvis Presley & Tina Turner Piano - Nicky Hopkins Organ - Ian MacLagan
Lyrics - Chuck Berry
This would be a really weird band. They'd have soul but they'd be really loud . . . and drunk.
Drums: Kenny Jones - too under-rated Bass: Bill Wyman - just let him play Chuck Berry Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards - can't say anything that hasn't been said Lead Guitar: Peter Green - IMO, as criminally wasted talent Vocals: Steve Marriott
Harmonica, Slide Guitar and anything: Brian Jones Organ: Stevie Winwood
Lyricist: Ray Davies
You can't deny, the music of this band will be fantastic blues
Lead Vocals: Lemmy....Drums:Elvin Jones....Guitars: Johnny Thunders & James Williamson, Johnny Ramone....Bass: Dee Dee Ramone.......Horn Section: Ornette Coleman

Not a list of favour only, but about something that would suit:
Guitars : Clapton/ Gilmour/ Richards Vocals: Clapton/ Gilmour/ Richards Drums: Watts Bass: Bruce or Wyman Percussion: Cooper Keyboards: McLagan Sax: Keys
I'm So Glad Gimmie Shelter Ain't Too Proud To Beg See Emily Play Strange Brew Spoonful Harlem Shuffle Brand New Car Time Waits For No One Wish You Were Here As Tears Go By Wild Horses Badge Just My Imagination To Love Somebody You Win Again All Shook Up Soul Survivor Keef set: The Worst Nearness Of You We Had It All The Harder They Come Connection Crossroads Dead Flowers Love In Vain Stop Breakin Down Under My Thumb I Feel Free Sunshine Of Your Love Sympathy For The Devil Encores: Salt Of The Earth Tales Of Brave Ulysses You Gotta Move Love Hurts Layla Jumpin' Jack Flash (Mick taking the mike)
Drums: Al Jackson Jr Bass: James Jamerson Guitars: Keith and young Robbie Robertson Piano: Fats Domino Vocals: Muddy Waters
Or, you could just take the Meters (vintage) and put Lee Dorsey in front of them. Or, Little Richard with the Upsetters, or James Brown with the JB's, or Otis with Booker T & the MGs. These actually happened, so no real need for a fantasy line-up for me. Fun exercise, though.
jimi - guitar (he doesn't need any assistance in this department) keltner - drums (this band is shaping up quite nicely) jerry sheff - bass (why not?) dylan - vocals (aside from other attributes - he's the best rock vocalist ever) nicky - occasional keyboards
Drums: Jim Keltner Guitar: Robert Fripp and Keith Richards Piano: W.A. Mozart Bass: The guy on Bob's Rolling Thunder Revue 1975 Vocals: Bill Wyman......eh, perhaps we'll say Elvis Presley instead Choir: Roy Orbison & Carolyn Dennis
Rythm Guitar, vocals John Lennon Lead Guitar Eric Clapton Bass Keith Richards Drums Mitch Mitchell Loud Screams A cat in heat (or Yoko) I assume you can let them play an obscure but classic Beatles song and plan a circus around it. Damn, that would be cool!!! haha

For Leanord Kerringer, and anyone else who is interested, here's a personality crisis, Johnny T, Jerry Nolan, and Killer Kane in the same room. In 1987! The real Dolls Reunion Tour.
