Miss You - Best live version?

And This One...

I go for the Handome Girls version ....true to the original but with a live energy.

Don't care much for the live versions from the recent tours.

The song just doesn't work live (except maybe in 1978). But the 11:40 studio version is the greatest Stones Jam ever, if they only played it live like that. (It's also the best Wood playing if ever heard)

There's a cool version on the voodoo lounge video, its out on the Jointrip label. I'm not sure where the location is but Mick pops up from under the stage when the concert starts. the version from St Louis '97 is very good too IMHO.

Best since the 78 tour is in my opinion Giants Stadium 2002. On the b-stage with Mick playing harp.

Don't like the song but if I had to go for a version it would be Garden State, 1978.

There ARE no best LIVE versions! This song should be retired, IMO!

The '78 version (handsome girls cd1) is my favorite but the Hampton '81 version is also awesome to listen to.

I like the version played in Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and B2B tour also. They are a bit to slow in comparison to the '78/'81 version and Keith and Ronnie play far to less guitar but still i love listening to them.
I totally forgot the '03 Stade de France version. I was at that concert close to the b-stage and i remember that i was really impressed with that version. Not that it was the best version i ever heard but because to it sounded more like the old versions ('78/'81) espescially with Mick on harp!!!

Cheers,
Wuudy

I beg to differ. The 78 versions are guitar driven, not piano driven. very, very good versions from the 78 tour.

The' 78 tour. The '81 tour version isn't bad, but the song really falls apart on subsequent tours in my opinion.

Any posts for the 11:40 studio version or the "strange" version or voodoo lounge. All sound cool! Thanks!

I vote for the New Orleans Voodoo Lounge version.

Most of you would probably call it a blasphema!!!!! but I like very much the version from Mick Jagger boot (one night stand ) taken from the down under tour in 1988 with Satriani.
Otherwise I think this song never worked well Live with the Stones.

12/18/81 Hampton is among the best - unfortunately they edited the guts out of it for the horrific Still Life album....

Ooops. My bad. There's a "Superstars in Concert" extended version of this (I have the original radio-only lps) that includes an edited version of the Hampton Miss You. I was thinking about this version of the "Still Life" on my post. But, they did cut the guts out of SL's Imagination from Hampton - heresy!

The 78 version of miss you (handsome girls) is not only the best version ever of this song, it is also one of the best live performances of the stones all time, all songs considered.

This is pure art, magic version, inspired band!

The first time I heard it, I cried for a miracle!!!

I think that miss you is the only stones song that I don't like and that always, when I hear a new boot, I don't listen to it.

I 100% agree with you, I just dislike the song, no matter how often I listen to it. I just can't.

I like the 1978 live version.

The reason we all dislike it is simple; OVERPLAY! Ok, I guess there is another reason, in concert is just goes on and on! Way too long, and frankly, I'd much rather have 2 four minute songs in it's place!

Are you serious its 8 minutes now? That is 9 minutes of torture...
