Baboon Bro,

You do have something up your butt. I was at the show last night and it was on fire. One silly picture doesn't mean squat. There is a reason why the Stones love to play MSG and there is a reason why they waited to bust out "Sway" last night. Why so testy?

Don't worry Bayou; the this was my sixth show of the tour, and the crowd was so loud it was deafening. There was a huge demand for this show, there we no tickets available outside the venue, and EVERYONE was on their feet for virtually the entire show with one exception (Keith's set).

I mean EVERYONE, from the floor to the upper tiers. In other venues, by way of contrast, the floor will stand, but there are large sections of the tier sitting. But NOT at MSG last night. I was there, and I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me Keith.

That said, I'm not sure how important this is. When I have gone to shows in Tokyo, 40,000 people will be standing (they NEVER sit), but the crowd is so polite that there is no vibe.

After standing on my feet during every Stones performance since 1975, I found myself sitting more on the ABB tour due to the lackluster set list and Keith's poor choice of songs.

You know what brings a crowd to its feet? When they are surprised, and there have been only a few surprises since they hit the road on the second leg of their US tour. Shock me, show me.

Those who choose to sit, let them sit and relax. Who cares, and if you care that much, you have too much spare time on your hands.

"You know what brings a crowd to its feet? When they are surprised, and there have been only a few surprises . . ."

Uhhhh.... that's just wrong. What brings the crowd to its feet are --- the hits. If the Stones played 40 Licks, played the same set of hits every night and took no chances (no Worried About You, no Sway, ABB cuts), they would have no problem. They could play these 20 songs, every night, in the same order, and people would be on their feet every night. And it would seriously suk.

Having been to both Boston shows last week, and now both MSG shows, I can honestly say, and nobody loves the Stones more than me, that the Boston crowd was 10 times hotter than the MSG crowd. That has never been the case in past tours, so I'm not sure why it happened this time around. Both nights at MSG I was one of the few people standing in my section, and I was in the 100 levels! In Boston last week, even the people in the balcony sections were standing. I think one reason may have been that in MSG there were many more hot, young women. Now as a male, that is fine with me, but they do not know the songs or like the Stones, they are there more as a trophy piece. So after 3 songs, they get bored and just sit there. Boston had more 'older' fans who obviously loved the band...just my $0.02

Thanks

I was at both nights for the Garden. I went to the side of the stage by Keith, the 1st section that they were not selling tix for. You can do what you want, and have no neighbors for 10 feet in all directions. I'm 56 years old, and I don't sit for anybody, least of all the Stones. I had to put the sound level up on my TV last night. At first I thought the signal wasn't coming in too clearly, but after switching channels, I realized my ears were the problem. Bombastic 2 nights at the Garden. If people do want to sit, let them. It's their choice. But just as they choose to sit down and I don't heckle them, don't bother me for being on my feet all night. You had to be there.

Well that's just about the FINAL WORD on the subject... just about slams home any further pretense that the MSG crowd was anywhere near rocking...

EYE WITNESS in 100 Levels... backing up the reports of 90% of the peeps in the top balconies sitting on their ass...

BACKING UP PHOTO EVIDENCE...

Before we think about replacing Ronnie, Darryl, Chuck, Tim Ries, changing the setlists, changing the sound mix, etc. etc.

.... We really need to think about changing the AUDIENCE !

Does it bother you that much that the audience is mostly sitting down ??

I was there and stood up the whole time except for "This place is empty". It seems absurd your assertion that the crowd was mostly sedentary the whole evening...that's all.

As long as the Stones play Sway and Gimme Shelter the audience can sit on their fat butts or do coke in the bathrooms or what the f uck as far as I'm concerned.

DrBryant- Were you on your feet and shaking your ass to "Infamy". I didn't think so. Grab a Halcion tab out of your bag and relax.

I must admit, I was less enthused about the ABB tour( smae set list), therefore, I did not stand for the entire show. It was a good show, but not as good as BtoB or VL tours.

I was at the Wednesday show. the crowd in my section was standing untill Worried About You. I coulent believe my ears when they started playing this song. No way was I going to sit down. To make a long story short, some @#$%& behind me starts getting loud and abusive at me cause he wants me to sit down. Before the song is even half way over the guy pullls the back of my shirt trying to force me to sit down. Now at this point We are yelling at each other (my girlfriend is in his face as well) and the ushers are now asking to talk to me in the hallway.
So I miss more than half the song & all of Rain fall down and girlfriend is upset. When we went back to our seats (tail end of Rain Fall Down) I am still on my feet, which is stressing out my girlfriend (allthough the dopey-ass is silent for some reason, maybe the pot he was smoking an hour before was kicking in) One usher was very nice and brought us to a section where we could stand with out a problem, it was also alot closer to the stage. However Worried About You was taken from me, and I felt bad for the stress it gave my girlfriend . I am sure there were sections at MSG that were totally rocking I have seen many a Stones show there and that is usually the case. Are times changing ? or was it just an off night ? I don't know

West8... now calm down... you WERE NOT at MSG... you see everyone on this board who says "I was there" just swears up and down that Martin Scorsese and Bruce Willets and all the rest of the New York CPA poseurs were just rockin' their real-estate-developin' ass off, and there wasn't one lard-ass in the audience.

SO, despite photos to the contrary, we must assume that everyone was just rockin' like no tomorrow and that you couldn't possibly have been to MSG smiling smiley

Look at the MSG photos from the StonesVikings website: ALMOST EVERYONE STANDING!

You:
A) Were not at the show;
cool smiley Found ONE MSG photograph in which you claim that people APPEAR to be sitting (unclear) and conclude that it is sufficient evidence; and
C) Are just trying to stir things up on a message board because you are a loser.

Give us all a break and fcuk off.

Heyyyy Snake... always nice to hear from you. Did they hose you down in the reptile house today ?

Anyway, it's more than just one picture... read all the comments from people in the 100 balcony, the 300 balcony... the comments from the guy who was getting grabbed because he was standing up...

Why do you try to cover up the fact of so much audience sitting at MSG ??

I don't have a problem with sitters, just a problem with sitters insisting that Ronnie can't rock, and Darryl ain't jazzy, and Chuck needs to be replaced, and the sound mix needs to change... and they want us to believe these "improvements" will get them off their ass. I doubt it.

Now slither back to your snakepiss pool

That is so awful that that happened to you. I've had similar things happen to me at concerts (fortunately not Stones concerts) and I know how frustrating it is when a couple of @#$%& interfere with your enjoyment of the show.

I can't understand why anybody would sit at a Stones concert, but if they decide to that is their right. But how dare they expect everyone else to sit as well? If you choose to sit, you have to realize there's a very good chance someone in front of you is going to stand and your view will be blocked. I can't believe that guy actually had the balls to grab you and try to get you to sit down. If anyone grabs me like that in Atlanta, I am going to break their @#$%& arm.

I've read all the threads. One person (Tully) said that MOST of the people in his section were seated for MOST of the show. One person (West8) said that ONE OTHER person in his section objected to his standing. EVERYONE ELSE who was at the show says that most people were standing most of the time. AND ALL the pictures from MSG except one (maybe taken during TPIE, I don't know) show EVERYONE standing.

You are full of sh1t, you fcuking troll.

As usual, snakepiss, when you slither out of your reptile cage you make a foo of yourself...

You're only reading these reviews... there are many others available, one after the other, reporting all the sitters at the show.

Go back to your litterbox.

Just a few reviews:

From TAP: "...Lowlight: We must have been in the lamest section in the whole venue (342 I think), at least 90% sat down all the way from ONNYA to Miss You - including through Rocks Off, a fantastic Rambler, Happy and even Tumbling Dice...very weird...."

From SoulSurvivor "...4. Crowd at the Garden -- particularly in the $450's -- is filled with many complete wastes sitting on there asses most of the show. And the security guards are the biggest @#$%& yet..."

Dig this one.. From Ritchee: "...thought the Stones played sloppy (which is fine by me) and the crowd totally sucked and lacked energy (which is not fine). Virtually everyone in my section (311) and sections around me were sitting and bitching at people who were standing...."

The above are from Shidoobee reviews for the 1-18 show, hard-core fans so don't say they are from stones haters. Wash the snakepiss from your eyes and read them yourself here:

[p081.ezboard.com]

From ChevySales2: "...so next song keith is over there again (ronnies side end of stage) and two guys are standing there with arms crossed with keith playing rite in front of them. the body language was a complete turn off... again showing this whole thing on big screen....keith was totally in to it both times really playing for the audience while the guys on other side of rail (end of stage) really showed the way many crowds are... the exact opposites!.."

SO, go on believing whatever you want... you read the "crowd reviews" here, you see them above on Shidoobee...

It's getting so bad that in some sections people are tugging on others to SIT DOWN, imagine that...

And some think we should replace Ronnie or Darryl or Chuck... I say replace these lard-butts.

Now back to your litterbox, snakep**p

There was not a soul sitting in my section nor did I notice people sitting who had floor seats.I gotta say though on my trip into the city friday before the show I heard a woman say don't bother getting floor seats unless your in the first ten rows because nobody will sit down and then the guy shakes his head and tells how he was there wednesday and kept asking people to sit so he could see but they wouldn't.Even the ushers were of no help to him.I cringed silently.

The photograph seems to me to be depicting the entire arena STANDING. Take a look at the railing at the base of the loge, stage left for a reference point: The crowds there are standing. Also, along the railings and barriers surrounding the b-stage and walkway--and since the tops of everyones' heads are aligned...

Anyhow, as I noted above, I had an eighth row center ticket for Sunday's Boston show. Great fun, backstage pass, nice crowd, great Stones town.

My Wednesday experience in the highest reaches of Madison Square Garden (400 level--stage right) had twice the energy. People were standing, moving around, dancing and looking over the ecstatic crowds below.

I'm sure that everyone everywhere else is tired of hearing about NYC and the Garden. But I've seen the Stones in wonderful cities across the US (incl. opening night 1997 at Soldier Field) and I can promise you that the "New York Effect" is for real.
