Help!!

My sister asked me for some help coming up with a song that she and my (and her) dad can dance to at the wedding reception for the Father/Daugher dance.

It doesn't have to be the Stones...just looking for good ideas. She would rather it NOT be a country or rap song. She likes classic rock.

Thanks for your help!

That's funny...I already suggested Start Me Up and We Built This City by Starship. But, seriously, we're beyond the joking stage now. We really need some help with this!

I danced with each of my daughters at their wedding receptions and both times the song was "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra. They chose the song and I am a great Sinatra fan, and it was a perfect song for us. But, when dancing with your daughter at her wedding reception, there are so many songs from which to choose. I guess it depends on one's taste in music. Thank God neither of my girls are country music fans!!

So what are some of these songs to choose from that you're thinking of?

Father and Daughter by Paul Simon is great.

Well, I wasn't thinking of any particular songs, just the idea that the options are unlimited. Do they want a slow, moderate, or fast song? That is one question to answer. If your sister is a classic rock fan, once she decides on the pace of the song, then it would probably be good to narrow the choices down to songs from her favorite groups.

Here's some ideas:

Bob Dylan: Forever Young

Lee Ann Womack: I Hope You Dance

Eric Clapton: Wonderful Tonight

Despite any recommendations to the contrary, I would advise against: "Papa Don't Preach" or "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" smiling smiley

"It's just that demon life has got me in it's sway..."

Now honey, I don't wanna clip your wings
But a time comes when two people should think of these things
Having a home and a family
Facing up to their responsibilities
They say in the end true love prevails
But in the end true love can't be no fairytale
To say I'll make your dreams come true would be wrong
But maybe, darlin', I could help them along

Little girl, I wanna marry you
Oh yeah, little girl, I wanna marry you
Yes I do
Little girl, I wanna marry you

Sorry- this thread has reminded me of the tv advert (U.K) for John Smiths Beer,
starring Peter Kay.
He's a d.j at a wedding, and plays
"Annie, I'm Not Your Daddy", by Kid Creole & The Coconuts, as father and daughter hit the dancefloor....very funny.

Danced with my mom at my wedding to Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" which was popular at the time (1990). Not a dry eye in the joint.
