I'm not sure I'd go with with them as the best musicians to join them (EC, JLH, Cray, Buddy G all come immediately to mind) - but I'll go with you on this point - the Youngs/Stones version of Rock Me Baby at Enmore was the single best song played on the Licks tour. Goose-bumps all around.

Has Pete Townsend ever been on stage w/ the Stones? Long Live Rock would be awesome Pete, Keef & Woody

stevie wonder? Considering that he has an album out and that there's been a stink about no motown acts being on the bill... maybe a chance. But that would entail new rehearsals, etc. Also, it would probably look even worse for the stones to grudgingly allow a local performer into their nfl tie-in scheme.

Musically it could be awesome, of course. I love the "Satisfaction/Uptight" medley in '72.

Poor Axl Rose the worst by far, followed by Justin Timberlake
Angus and Malcolm among the best!

Guns and Roses, sexy and dangerous, what a joke. Tasteless phony poseurs then and now. Axl Rose made public, racist and homphobic comments, he's a complete tosser, hopefully they will never come back.

To bigfrankie: Elton John came on as a guest, and the story goes that after the guest song, he started to lead the Stones into their next song, saying "just follow me"...supposedly Keith went over to Mick and asked him if Mick agreed to this, and when Mick said no...Keith went over to Elton and told him to get off the stage. This was the beginning of the bad blood between Keith & Elton.
Tina Turner was a last minute substitute as the opening band for the Stones at the Meadowlands Arena in 1981. The Godfather of Soul, James Brown was to be the opener, but his entourage started to heckle him and remind him that once upon a time the Stones opened for him. At the last minute (about 5 days prior to the 1st night of 3), James Brown refused to open for the Stones and Mick called Tina and told her she had only a few days to get ready, which she did.
To ChelseaDrugstore: isn't the look that Mick gives Eric Clapton after his solo priceless?

Yeah. Good music IMO, but Axl was a lameo. Kurt Cobain always made fun of him because he was such a moron. I miss Kurt.

I'll take Eric Clapton's sitting in on: Little Red Rooster

did you see the way Jagger's eyes lit up after Eric's solo!!!
even Ronnie put his arms out to not let Eric leave the stage!!

probably brought back memories to Jagger/Richards of having a top-notch
lead guitarist in the band????? wonder what that guy's name was????

didn't care for Dave M. either

as for Izzy, he's a TAYLOR fan more than a Wood fan!!!
his band performed: Jivin Sister Fanny live...
and we know who stands out in that song!!!!!!!!!! Wood -- NOT

MLC

Izzy & The Ju Ju Hounds recorded a cover version of "Take A Look At The Guy" featuring Ronnie. Izzy has mentioned in interviews that is definitely a Ron Wood fan.

If Keith were posting here I believe he would vote for Elton John as the worst guest ever. As in "The Guest Who Wouldn't Leave".

Worst: I think I'd go along with the growing consensus around Justin Timberlake

Best: I can't remember if the performance was anything special but the sheer impact when Eric Clapton walked out at Leicester Granby Halls in May 1976 and I recall they had a bash at "Key To The Highway" from "Layla"

There's something about Axl Rose that I absolutely cannot stand...

BUT I must admit that he & Izz were great on stage with the Stones.

Motley Crue can blast GnR off the stage and thru the roof... comparing them to Poison is ridiculous, why don't u add Ratt while you're at it.

And as for Axl being so "dangerous" with a combo of "sex drugs and violence", he would be the gopher for Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, and Vince Neil... he couldn't party with any of those guys.

Bo was great on stage in Miami I think it was...

Just this tour, if anyone caught Buddy Guy on stage doing Night Time in Milwaukee, that's one of the best guests I ever saw.

You can't be serious that the loss of Bill Wyman turned the Stones into a "Vegas Act"...

Did you see the VooDoo Lounge Tour ?? Think that was a Vegas Act ??

How about Forty Licks ?? Vegas Act for you was it ?

Re: Izzy and Ronnie

I met Izzy at Ronnie's Atlanta show on the "Slide On This" tour. I think Izzy is a Stones fan regardless of who's playing lead.

Best - the great Muddy Waters
Worst - Dave Matthews butchering "Memory Motel"

I know I'll catch flames for this, but I thought the Agnus and Malcolm gig was just fair not perhaps legendary like some of the Clapton collaborations, and not even as good as the Axl/Izzy duo.

Best: Clapton on "Little Red Rooster" live, Taj Mahal on "Corinna".

Worst, don't know, I've got always some problems with extended sax solos, but Earnie Watts and Bobby Keys aren't really guests.

Muddy never guested at a Stones show, Elmo - although 3 of the Stones guested with HIM
