how's the IORR Detroit Team doing?

i've been idly following the efforts to get groups of 20 real fans together for that halftime deal at the superbowl and was just wondering how the iorr representation is doing -
R and/or Little Queenie, have you got a 20-person team together?

i guess i've been waiting for R to contact me - i saw that shidoobee has a team too - we might want to join up with them too- the concern i have about myself is that there's some mention of FBI screenings and such and it turns out that i am on some sort of list due to some animal rights protests arrests i was part of in the late 80s/early 90s! i know it sounds kind of glamourous but i think its cost me at least one job! it could prevent me from getting accepted...

Well, footballs are made of pigskin after all, right? They might think you're there to make some sort of pigs rights protest.

yeah, i was thinking the two groups might do well to join forces ...
i hope you're in touch with the shidoobee team as well - it would be too bad if the boards weren't represented at all!

I think the FBI screening is for terrorists. We don't want the boys to go out in A Bigger Bang from some nut case.

yes, well the FBI do classify animal rights activists as terrorists these days - due to the actions of just a few - i was arrested for civil disobedience - not leaving when the cops told me to - Ghandi type of stuff...i guess i'm also trying to decide if spending a week in detroit in order to see just a few songs, not necessarily in the front row, will be actually worth it.

i can't remember what the stage is like in past superbowls - is it surrounded on all four sides? they're trying to encourage clubs like fraternities, cheerleaders, etc to apply - i'd be pissed if some frat kid who only knows satisfaction is between me and the stage!

I'm the leader of the shidoobee (all small letters)group,we do NOT have 20 people,if there's any locals who want to join us,please, feel free, this gig has been a hard sell due to the lengthy rehearsal schedule. At this point it doesent matter what "banner"i'm under,I JUST WANNA SEE THE GIG..............

what are you saying, i'm not modest? i'm not saying i'm like Ghandi (though i am a vegetarian and have volunteered a lot of time for animal causes), but that Ghandi promoted the idea of civil disobedience. he's the inspiration for a lot of such activities...

i realized later what you meant and edited my answer now as you can see...think of how great the world would be if more people did compare themselves to ghandi!

I decided not to pursue it. They want you for 3 to 4 rehearsals of up to seven hours each in the week before WITH your 20 person team PLUS FBI identity checks (you relinquish you drivers license) and all other manner of invasive horseshit. I work, have a family and live three hours away. It's all together to much of a pain in the arse (as you all would say over there) just to be there when the Stones play:

Start Me Up
Rough Justice
Miss You
Satisfaction

I'll stay home with my buds, get drunk and eat chili and whatnot.

My only real fear is the private party for the 2,000 folks after the halftime which is to be catered with bar, food and souveniers might also have a "surprise guest musical act" entertain....

Doubt it. They'll probably just give you some milk and cookies and send you on your way. And speaking of invasive pains in the arse, I wouldn't be surprised if they conduct a mass cavity search.
