Wisertime, no disrespect intended. Now this gets a liitle away from the subject but the last time i saw the Stones even this Stones addict wondered in the back of my mind if they could still pull it off. At Wembley arena in 2003 I took a little time out to take a look around me after an hour or so of the show. The people surrounding me of all ages all had smiles on their faces. For me it was affirmation that we were actually seeing the greatest RNR band in the world. It was truly a momentous moment and evening. LONG LIVE THE STONES.
When I lend someone my axe it comes back dull and worn. When I lend a visitor my wife she comes back as good as new. [a nice custom I might add!]
The point of this is nothing, other than inching up to the revelation that one might argue that nothing, not even sex, is better than a Stones concert.
That's a stupid thread because we are in a Stones forum so people will say the Stones. We'd be in a Dylan forum or a Springsteen forum people would say that there's nothing better than a Dylan/Springsteen show. The problem is that in these forums, most of the posters are only fan of one artist and don't consider other artists. Not true music fans. But I respect your choices, I don't want to offence anyone.
Do you even read this forum? People are always talking about other songs that are great from other artists. A few people on here just the other day wrote how the Lou Reed album New York was in their top 10. There was a big Dylan discussion recently as well.
So when you say true music fans, do you base that on the number of artists people like? If so, I must disagree with you. A true music fan isn't someone who dwells on knowing everything about an artist and their music (ie, chart positions, b-sides, etc), a true music fan is one who just really really enjoys it. Some people are unable to just lose themselves in the music, others can. That's how I judge a music fan. As you say, no offense to anyone, but I think you actually do mean to offend. Additionally, you remind me of those so-called open minded people who only feel people are open minded if they are of the same mind-set.
Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.
