my favorite writer....i live near east hollywood where some of his writings were done......he blew the lid off of phony vague poetry....and his novels: "Women" "Ham On Rye" "Post Office" are GREAT!!.........his tombstone reads: Don't Try......he spawned a whole generation of imitators

Hey, ool BB´s an ool stage poet, now I can reveal it.
We used to call it physical or hardcore poetry.
Much fuzz, polices, riots... Short but intense
career around 1989-92, reunion in 2000,
probably a new reunion about 2010 if we may live
that long. Other rock'n'roll attitude poets
is for me Majakovsky [en.wikipedia.org]; Saarikoski; Bruno K. Öijer; Endre Ady; József Attila
and of course Phil Lynott, Jimbo Morrison & Patti Smith.
and loads of others I cant figure out now.
ditto authors Sture Dahlström;
or filmmakers Kaurismäki & Jodorowsky [www.horrorview.com].

I thought he hated rock n roll--Mahler! I'd be curious to read his article in Circus.

He couldnt possibly hate the Stones.
He was like a semi-clone of Keith in my mind.

he thought rock was kind of a joke.....he also hated Dylan....but he was born in 1920, so it makes sense

Burning in Water Drowning in Flames" ...the first thing I read by him. then 'Factotum"...great stuff, so funny and sad. got most of his work. he was reportedly not a bad painter too. I'd like to see some of his paintings.
he cut like a "hot poker through loose tinfoil"...

I have read much by Buk, he is the greatest! I have at least 10 of his books. I treasure them as much as my Stones collection.

stones and bukowski = KEWL

My Username itself is a tribute to Keith (RIFFmaster) and BUKowski...riffbuk
And magazine was Creem( and not Circus as I mentioned earlier) and he concluded that "Beethoven was much more satisfying to listen to than Mick Jagger"

Gotta get those recordings (did you download the one
I posted on Trade side yesterday?)... I just discovered him
as a poet. Mostly read his novels or what they should be called.

He has/had a corresponding charachter in Sweden:
Sture Dahlström, who I´m afraid not has been translated too much.
Almost contemporary, lived 1924-2001.

Ok, eventually he started to look like ool´Ernest, but the writing
is much much closer to Bukowski. Left pic from the 50s, in Spain. Right 80s.

(pix [home.swipnet.se])

Dahlström - beatnik, oddball, rebel against the conform society, anarchist.
