I've posted this before (6 months for the smart arses amongst us) but with no luck, so 'ere I go again - can anyone remember or help me out with what that music source was as the fireworks raged and the confetti rained down?

Cheers

I can't remember the name, but I remember the music. You can hear it at the end of some VL boots.

Wasn't that the tour where they used Hendrix guitar version of the Star Spangled Banner?

No, that was in 1981 and 1982.

They used a classical piece in 1982, wasn't it Tchaikovskij (I know it's spelled wrong) ?

Common knowledge...81.

I remember that tribal rhythm, it was sold on CD through
a CD mailorder here in Germany, so it´s official (and not a
Stones product like the intro in the middle of the show when
those disgusting inflatables were blown up)and available somewhere.

On the B2B tour, the post-show music was "Aloui" by Orchestre National de Barbès.

In 82 I think it was the Overture to 1812 by Tchaikowski, if I remember right.

you indeed remember right, Vilhelm

they used "Ride of the Valkryies" by Wagner at the end of the shows on Voodoo Lounge as I recall, and I think also in 1990 too (for those unfamiliar with the name, think of the carpet-bombing scene in Apocalypse Now)

"Alaoui" was the best one of the lot, though.

I can't remember, I didn't listen, did they use any at the end of the ABB tour?

You're absolutely right TT - the music was definitely "tribal inspired"

Now I checked both boots from Gothenburg 90, and the first one "Simply The Best" is closing with some numbers from Toronto, so not much help there. The other boot
"Simply The Best, VOL2" has the Travelling Wilburys (or Harrisson solo, not sure wich is wich) in a song I think is called "It´s Alright", and then comes the classical piece I think is Toreadore during te fireworks.
Here is a link to the endmusic, maybe someone knows what it´s called

Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff".

At Roundhay Park, Leeds in 1982, they played Tony Bennet's "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" as the outro.

It was the last gig of the entire 81/82 tour and I wonder whether this title had any significance.

It's from Bizet's 'Carmen' allright, the first part is 'The Song of the Toreador' & then the more dancy bit is just called 'The Toreadors'.

As well as the opera Carmen, Bizet put together 2 suites of the incidental music (think of it as Carmen's greatest hits vol 1 & 2) & both tunes show up in them.

1990 was from Carmen (you have it on the Madrid SBD CD)
1997/98 "Aloui" by Orchestre National de Barbès. (as erikjj stated) I have the complete CD which is a nice peace of music!

On Licks, the post-show music was "Got To Be There" (stadiums) and "Monkey Man" (arenas/theatres) by Toots & The Maytals.
