Yeah, I have this. Haven't listened to it in a while.
Back in the early 90's a bunch of British bands all did different versions of it. I think proceeds went to a homeless fund in England. I have a cassette copy of it.
Here's the other bands:
Voice of the Beehive with Jimmy Sommerville Heaven 17 with Hannah Jones Cud with Sandy Shaw Little Angels Hawkwind with Samantha Fox (Yikes!) SOS State with Robert Owens Pop Will Eat Itself
Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.
the project was called "Putting Our House In Order" and consisted of 3 singles released in different formats, CD, cassette and vinyl.
Each release consisted of 3-4 different acts performing "Gimme Shelter" (so, there were about 10-12 different versions). The Stones' version (recorded in Clemson on the Steel Wheels tour) appeared on the cassette single.

I put it up on the buy/sell/trade/give to your beloved Tell Me-friends-side...
Just found a version from DNA Lounge, SF May 19 2004. I wont put up that one, even if it sounds pleasant partly. Sorry to say to my bro-in-law I miss that Welsh dude here...
The version I startetd talk about & Gary & others went on with, I have seen on a video tape. It even looks good.

Yeah Gazza, you're right. I just noticed that there were 4 other versions on this cassette that I didn't list above.
There are also versions by Kingmaker, Thunder, Blue Pearl & the Stones live. Mine doesn't have that title, mine looks like a bootleg actually. All mine says that it was copied at Abbey Road studios back in 93, with a little cartoon pic of the crosswalk (prior to them zig-zagging it).
Have to admit, I don't really know who any of these bands are.

Oh, gotcha now. I wish I knew how to put stuff into digital format. You guys probably have everything I already do, but sometimes I find stuff that I forget I have.

Well, I asked my bro-in-law tonite if he had this in sound file (which he hadnt. But as the good man already had helped me (some months ago) install LimeWire I could catch it meself.

Wow, I didn't know that existed. I love Soundgarden and I love Stray Cat Blues so I'm excited. Can you post it?
And if someone can post that Tom Jones Gimme Shelter, I promise to have a horde of 60-something women throw their panties at you, through the mail if necessary. What's new pussycat, woo ooh ooh ooh ooh ...
