One Hit to the Body fans
Date: December 26, 2005 05:49

I consider this to be a Stones classic-- though I know few regard it as such. Great lyrics--angry and powerful. One of the alll-time great lines
"Your love is a sweet addiction, I can't clean you out of my veins. It's a lifelong addiction, that has damaged my brain."

Other thought on this hidden gem?

Great song, completely underrated like so many others. Superb guitar playing by Ronnie'n'Keith, great vocals.

Probably you'll never hear it 'on stage'. The problem with the song in my opinion is Mick's very strong vocal performance. Hard to perform it on a stadium stage. Seems to be more a theatre number.
But in anyway a a brilliant song.

Keep on rollin'

Yes, one of my absolute favourites and it worked well live in 1989. Would be a great #2 song in the setlist.

Count me in.

Their best opener since Rocks Off. I prefer it to the latter, but MUCH harder to make it work live. Especially the intro.

Infact, for the intro could they just skip the drum and acoustic guitar bit and cut straight to Keith's power riff? Maybe it would then be mistaken for Start Me Up?!

Good Call!

An absolute classic and worthy of a recall to the setlist.

It's a great song, and so is Undercover of the Night. One Hit was done at seventeen shows on the North American leg of the Steel Wheels tour, and in addition to all of these versions [which are available], there are two super soundboard versions from the full-set dress rehearsals in Philly on August 28 and 29, 1989.

It would be nice if they tried this one again. Some warhorses need to be taken behind the barn and shot imo (Miss You ring a bell?)

Stones89,

Agree with you about warhorse death sentence. Miss You is not played that often is it? My prime criminals for death row are:

Brown Sugar
JJF
Satisfaction

One of my favorites! Awesome rocker from a kinda shaky Stones period. It was played live in '89 I think. Maybe in Philly at one or both of the opening shows. Was it played at any Licks shows?

>> Was it played at any Licks shows? <<

timeisonourside.com seems to have it listed as being performed in 89 and 95, but i don't see it on nzentgraf.de for 95.
someone learned will clue us in on the True Story, i hope.

"What do you want - what?!"

Echoing Four Stone Walls and Stones89:

Not to dis 'Miss You,' but we won't miss her if you dismiss 'er.

'One Hit' is TREMENDOUS in Toronto '89 (I assume that's where my cassette recording is from).

How about, on the current tour:

Following the end of some other tune (e.g. 'Sweet Virginia') , low lights and mist, then:

Ronnie, in the darkness, strumming those unison notes on a specially tuned accoustic guitar.

Suddenly cut to:

Keef, playing the intro LOUD!

Then Charlie launches in, and we're underway!

Can't believe this wouldn't be at least as big a hit with the audience as IORR, Live With Me, etc.

The problem, with a theatre show,is the tempature!!!So Jagger have to save his voice(so,one hit wont work). That said you will always have a hell of atime,I saw and heard it in Rotterdam ahoy ,the last tour,to hot for the crowd to h0t for the stones and damm sure to hot for a song like''óne hit'' it aint 78 no more.

"I saw and heard it in Rotterdam ahoy ,the last tour"

I'm not sure what you mean, Rooster.

At Rotterdam Ahoy, they did not play One Hit. Yes, they played Sweet Virginia. Perhaps that what you meant?

It wasn't that hot either, (the temperature).

I dislike that album as well as Undercover. Those 2 represent the bad Stones years. Nobody had to say anything, more involved in their own personal projects.
Never listen to them. And that's fine .

never liked it. forced and calculated - like much of their paltry 80's output. trite lyrics don't help. phony.
