METRIC TO SUPPORT THE ROLLING STONES' NYC DATES
CANADIAN FOUR PIECE ANNOUNCES SPRING TOUR
REMIX OF SINGLE "MONSTER HOSPITAL" BY MSTRKRFT
TO BE RELEASED IN JANUARY.
Toronto four-piece Metric are excited to announce that they will open
for The Rolling Stones on January 18th and 20th at Madison Square
Garden. Following these dates, Metric will return to the US with a
North American tour, kicking off March 7th at the Roxy in Boston and
ending on April 15th at Detroit's St. Andrew's Hall, in support of
their new album, LIVE IT OUT, which was called "one of the year's best"
by Under The Radar. These dates, which include two shows for the South
by Southwest festival in Austin, TX, follow an enormously successful
48-day tour this fall, where Metric sold out nearly all of their shows,
including New York's Bowery Ballroom, Los Angeles' El Rey Theater, The
Social in Orlando and Slim's in San Francisco.
LIVE IT OUT, released in the US this October on Toronto-based Last Gang
Records, received an enthusiastic response from the press. Paper
Magazine called the record an "introspective and mature set of
songs...a vibrantly dark fusing of Brit-pop sensibilities with New Age-synth arrangements and a brash, kick-ass punk foundation." Blender wrote
"LIVE IT OUT is a spirited, gutsy evolution...By turns ethereal
and violent, this is a deceptively pretty album with a dark heart." The New
Yorker declared the album to be "whip smart" while CMJ described it as
a "new wavy pop seduction" and Billboard called it "an enchanting mix
of melancholia and spunk."
Having just wrapped up a European tour, Metric--consisting of
frontwoman/keyboardist Emily Haines, guitarist Jimmy Shaw, bassist Josh
Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key-- is also going to release a
remix of its single "Monster Hospital" in January on Last Gang Records. The
remix was done by MSTRKRFT (Death From Above 1979 bassist/synth-ist
Jesse Keeler and producer Al-P). More info to come soon!
