Wow. Which "Extended Jam" does it for you more? I know how passionate folks are about Rambler, but Can't You Hear Me Knocking I prefer of the two. "MEZ your getting tougher & tougher." Outdoing yourself here baby!!!!
p.s. I was just watching Knocking, on Four Flicks, MSG again. Thought version was very good. What do you muscians think how Ronnie did with the infamous Solos of Taylors on knocking.
I Love Can't you hear Me knocking beats Rambler, Studio or Live. I'd say about 30 -35 song notches up on my "all time Stones list of catalogue. Rambler of course great also no slight here folks.
Think Rambler may win here though What say you? MEZ
Midnight Rambler is one of the greatest rock 'n' roll songs EVER written. The live version on Ya-Ya's still gets me off after 30 some years. CYHMK is a great song but Rambler is a tour de force, it has it all.
Well the "audio" of Can't You Hear Me KNockin' is just incredible... either off the CD or at a live concert...
But somehow Midnite Rambler is a great "visuals" song for Keith and Ronnie... if you've ever seen 'em do this on the b-stage, u know what I mean... no other song says "we're the guitar front line of the Rolling Stones" quite like Midnight Rambler.
"It's just that demon life has got me in it's sway..."
this is a tough tough tough question as it pertains to live versions...
(it's no contest that CYHMK wins as a better studio recording)
Knockin' was awesome live during Licks Tour, but the way that the boys have played with Rambler during concerts through the years make this the marquee jam-out song imo
Rambler. For those memorable instants in the middle of each shows during a certain period. For Keith unimitable riffs and Taylor divine solos. And for Mick at his best tiptoeing.
In the Hartford Civic Center during the Licks tour they did a perfect version of CYHMK that brought the house down and brought cheers of "Ronnie, Ronnie, Ronnie". The song was great, but was blown away by the encore, which happened to be Midnight Rambler. Midnight Rambler gets my vote every time over Can't You Hear Me Knocking.
