OT: greatest Glam rock songs/records.

Glam, from the start, was a part of rockandroll music. It peaked and showed itself more prominently in the early 70's, becoming a thing on its own. Then it kind of went back to be just an element of something bigger, just a part of rock and roll music.

Oh, there's so many. Any of those terrific Slade singles will do. T.Rex had a wonderful streak of high-charting singles, starting with Ride A White Swan. Ten there's Bowie, I suppose. Hmm.. I do quite enjoy a couple of Gary Glitters recording: Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again and Do You Wanna Touch Me are still great, in my opinion.

I like that the Paste list doesn't stay static in the classic 70's.
Good to see Jobriath on list. It's actually funny to see bands like Mott the Hoople thrown in with Glam.
Cockney Rebel needs to be mentioned for all 3 albums.

I have listened to Slade today and they are great. Glam rock seems to be either r&R with groups like Slade,Suzi Quatro,Gary glitter, NY Dolls. They use big drums sound, a catchy melody for anthems like songs, with a lead vocal outrageous working the audience to the max. Then there is the more romantic approach using the piano upfront and more complex musical arrangements; Bowie ,Elton Jones, Roxy music, T Rex, David Essex etc... Everybody is very camp and everybody is having a lot of fun. That the impression I have when listening to those bands. That was a good period for Rock and roll music as the basic needs were covered; let's have some fun!

Anybody was a fan of Slade in the early 70's on IORR? Can you share memories of a Slade concert or other glam rock bands? Thank you.

Didn't Noddy Holder say that the ongoing royalties from "Merry Christmas Everybody" have bought him his last two houses?

I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if true. I like the song, but have always preferred the Wizard one, ‘I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday’ Roy Wood is a criminally overlooked songwriter, in my opinion.
