Music of the sphères Tour - Coldplay

This tour is nearing its end but it is for sure a milestone in the musical history. 11 shows remained to be performed but yet it is the first one to exceed 1 billion $ in revenue. I read the data released by Touring Data. With 164 out of 175 shows already performed, the Numbers are impressive: audience : 9.7 Millions, revenue: 1.1 Billion $. For Europe solely: audience: 5.3 Millions, revenue : 604 Millions$ (more that worldwide ABcool smiley; Croke Park: audience: 330K, revenue: 50 Millions$.

I'm surprised for how big a tour it is its not more well talked about. I'm aware of it from just recently looking up biggest tours of all time, but otherwise I'd be totally unaware of it. I know Coldplay is a big draw, but feels like this compared to Taylor's Swifts tour, despite similar numbers, are total night and day.

As the great Zimmerman once said, they weren't all "Yellow", they were chicken.

Something like that.

Ha!

I saw Coldplay the one time in 2002, at Wembley Arena. It was their first 'arena tour', after previously primarily performing in theatre-sized venues. To summarise: this is the only concert that I nodded-off during whilst not being intoxicated. What a snooze-fest.

Coldplay are to play an unprecedented 10 nights at London's Wembley Stadium next summer, breaking a record held by Taylor Swift and Take That.

The band originally announced a six-night run at the stadium next August, but added four extra shows in September due to "phenomenal demand" during a fan-only presale on Thursday morning.

The general ticket sale begins at 9am on Friday, 27 September, with prices starting at £20 (plus fees).

Unlike Oasis, the band have declined to use Ticketmaster's dynamic pricing model - where prices are adjusted according to demand. A message on the company's website stated, “all ticket prices for these concerts are fixed at the advertised rate".

The 2025 tour dates are in support of the band's 10th album Moon Music, which is due for release on 4 October.

As well as Wembley, the band will play two nights at Hull's Craven Park Stadium.

Fifty per cent of the tickets for those shows will go to local fans, who live in the HU, YO, DN or LN postcodes.

The 12 concerts will be the band's only European dates of 2025. Ten per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the Music Venue Trust, which supports small, grassroots concert halls around the UK.

Sadly, people aren't going to concerts these days for perfect sound. They're going to get the instagram pic or tiktok video just to say they were there.

I think if you have a tiered seating ticket, and you are a long distance from the stage, then yes the sound is bad. But if you are on the pitch, not too far from the stage, the sound is just fine.

I’ve only been to new Wembley for concerts twice - AC/DC, 5th tier, adjacent to stage and pretty reckless support sound was VERY muddy but by the time AC/DC were on wasn’t any worse than any other stadium. Taylor swift I was front of fifth tier more or less facing stage and sound was excellent

So think it depends. However, ten nights gives them ample time to get it right

actually the current total number of shows is: 205.

probably they'll had more in NA. and even SA.

Hey Big Al, why did you do this? You edited it to be broken? AND you didn't say anything?

Makes no sense.

Coldplay became a commercial monstrosity.Musically speaking, I think their first 2 or 3 albums are very good. But their current tour attracts a lot of visitors, so they must be doing something very well.

If you were in India and had 900,000 rupees ($10,800; £8,000), what would you buy? A car? A trip around the world? Diamond jewellery? Or a Coldplay concert ticket?

The British rock band is set to perform three shows of their Music of the Spheres world tour in Mumbai next year and the tickets are being sold for obscene amounts on reselling platforms, after being sold out in minutes on BookMyShow (BMS) - the concert's official ticketing platform.

The tickets went on sale last Sunday and were priced from 2,500 rupees to 12,000 rupees. More than 10 million people competed to buy some 180,000 tickets.

I read that this band will have performed 16 Wembley at the end of this tour. This means 1.4 Millions people in London. This is truly outstanding. Who can possibly overcome this milestone ? Noone. Be it Taylor Swift or Ed Sheeran or Oasis. Moreover they could cash in 200 M$. Personnaly, I liked their first 2 albums. Then I quit.

Coldplay would have to be one the most overrated bands in the world......bland and boring. They are playing in my hometown of Melbourne at the end of this month where I can't believe they've sold out 4 smaller stadium showsin Melb and 4 big stadium shows in Sydney. Completely unbelievable!

Agree although I will say the singer seems like a hell of a nice guy in every interview I've seen.

Maybe unfair and cynical...but some folks give the impression of trying just a bit too hard to be "nice".

Their first two albums, Parachutes, and A Rush of Blood to The Head, are solid releases. Their third album saw the entering U2 territory, and it's been downhill since then. Truthfully, I've heard little-to-nothing from their post-2005 releases, but what I have, isn't recognisably 'Coldplay' to my ears. If it were not for Chris Martin's vocals, those who only know their breakthrough works, would be pretty stumped.

The first three albums are superb and I have no problem with them being in my collection. Although I do remember the criticism they received when Speed of Sound was released as a single around Glastonbury 2005 when they headlined. Many people saying it was no different to what they had released before...well they certainly put that to bed with the albums that followed. I lost them as many did after the third album but they created a completely new fan base with ease.

I'm seeing them at Wembley next year for the first time since 2005. Not my choice, but it's with someone who really wants to go. Ill enjoy it for what it is.
