No updates on this. I wonder if Kino Lorber axed it due to restoration being too expensive.

Is this going to be the full concert? If I remember correctly they shortened and cut songs. One of the reasons I don’t watch this one all that much. Love the performances and songs though so I’d be happy to watch it again if the songs are complete

Your expectations is why this 4K project was killed.

The reality is, like with The Beatles' anthology series, The Rolling Stones missed the boat again.

20 years ago people may've still be interested.

2024 and onward... no money to be made in terms of profit. That's the only reason to do such a thing that only a few hundred diehards loved. Eagle Rock or whoever would be grateful to sell 10,000 copies world wide. Streaming would probably be lower.

LSTNT is not a vital part of Stones history. Its raggely production speaks for that. Edited songs, sped up songs - it was a moment not cared for.

My LEAST favourite Stones live dvd/album. I find the tone, including Mick’s “singing” (he scowls, not sings) just too one-key, flat and even awkward. There’s only a few tracks I can listen to. I doubt I’ll pick this up.

From the looks of things you won't have to avoid buying it!

I agree, though; very little good performances. STILL LIFE did a pretty good job but missed in some areas. Instead of the mess of Shattered the perfectly dumpy groove of Black Limousine would've worked much better.

Thumb, Imagination, Time, Twenty and Go Go are fantastic. Waiting On A Friend, Let It Bleed and, aside from the obvious Start Me Up from the latter part of the set list, Honky Tonk could've really solidified the album. Everything else past Let It Bleed was a mess!

Fortunately with HAMPTON and STILL LIFE (Wembley) available making an improved STILL LIFE is possible.

I also don't like the way Mick growls through the songs in this period, but I alsways enjoyed watching this movie, because for years it was the only (official) available good-quality show from that period.

The beginning of the show still gives me goosebumps. When the band hits the stage, the crowds comes forward and screams there lungs out. Love the zeitgeist. Young stones, young crowd, no phones, no huge screens.. And everybody was having a great time.

I would be one of the people to buy a 4k LSTNT. Take my money.

Very fond memories of this film as it was the first Stones live movie I had after discovering them.

Purchasing my first Stones albums in 1993, LSTNT was shown New Years Eve that year on Channel 4 here; I taped it, and loved watching it! They obviously didn't have the cool aesthetic of the early 70s, with Mick in '81 jumping around in sports gear. But, pure rock'n'roll leapt from the screen with a collection of classic tunes. Their look aside, the music really gripped me.

In years since Hampton of course became my go-to for '81, a wonderful show I never tire of viewing. Even the Seattle and Houston proshots I enjoy very much.

Always thought of this film as being fun. It was a festive way to remember the tour. I'd love to see an upgraded version.

Kino Lorber is known for releasing stuff, which is not that well known or only popular in certain kind of groups of fans etc. So there is still a good chance that it will be released this year. Also the quality is always top! But beware it is region 1 (or A) only!

The japanese Blu Ray has already excellent picture. It will be hard to improve that. The audio is sadly not that good. But you can't improve the audio without a new mix. Kino Lorber surely won't get access to the master tapes. The same happened to L&G where the audio still isn't any good.

Yeah the intro is amazing, the way you get all those distance shots, the scale of the venue, the sun, Under My Thumb sounds great. You can imagine all the pot smoke and booze being enjoyed.

I miss the mixing of French VHS released in the 1980s!
There was Keith who stood out a lot more in the mix while the blu-ray is more focused on the rhythm section and it’s Woody who stands out the most.

Was ist really a different mix or was just the left channel missing on the left channel?

I know there's a different version released in Germany called "Rocks Off". It contains When the whip comes down, She's so cold from Nov 6 instead of Nov 5, a slightly longer Start Me Up and some Backstage and vault footage missing. But I don't recall any different mix in that movie.

Yes, the Japanese blu ray is excellent, but KL is well known for releasing stuff in the best possible way and a special made 4K print is always better than a normal blu ray version.
Also it is really possible that they get access to the master tapes, otherwise without the original tapes making and releasing a 4K print is unnecessary and superfluous.
What they did for example with Sergio Leone's Dollar Trillogy is fantastic, the movies never were looking that beautiful, they looked like just released new movies.
Let's have our fingers crossed and hope for the best!
