Studio Footage 1969-1974

To the best of my knowledge there is little or no footage of the RS in the studio during these years.

There are a few glimpses of mixing at Muscle Shoals in Gimme Shelter doc but am not aware of anything else.

Would love to observe group dynamic in the recording studio during the Taylor years. Anyone seen any or have any links?

I don't think I have ever seen any footage shot in a studio, except for the Burbank and Dallas rehearsals in 1972. All the footage in the Stones in Exile documentary is fake.

The Burbank and Dallas material are to the best of my knowledge audio recordings. I was looking for visual footage a bit like the SFTD sessions filmed by Godard or Let It Be studio footage. Seems to be virtually none for the RS. Maybe they didn't want the internal feuding recorded.

you may or may or may not be familiar with this footage that was shared fairly recentlty

it's not in your timeframe (it's from 89) but it might be as close as we'll ever get to a get back style thing for the stones

youtube

also supposedly there's a in studio documentary on the making of hackney diamonds that has yet to be released

but for the 69-74 its pretty limited

Not 1969/74, but there’s also Alcatraz, Milan somewhere…

Thank you, never seen before. I wonder if these rehearsals were very pleasant within the band.

Is that for real? The music doesn't seem to match with the footage.

it doesn't match, but both film and music are from the Dallas rehearsals.

Well, listening to the 2 hours of rehearsals they were having a great time, getting more drunk and stoned by the minute.

The Dallas youtube clip is my upload, the footage was shot by Robert Frank and used in the Apple TV '1971: The Year That Music Changed Everything' documentary. I didn't bother trying to find a sync for the audio given the nature of it.

The Burbank rehearsals feature briefly in '1971' and 'CS Blues' at the beginning.

There's footage of Mick conducting the London choir for YGAGWYW at Olympic that I believe was originally featured in 'Crossfire Hurricane':

Aside from Muscle Shoals in Gimme Shelter, that film also has clips of Mick and Keith (and Stu) mixing the Ya Yas tapes at Olympic circa 1970:

The video for We Love You has clips from sessions at Olympic in 1967:

This one has recording session footage for Yesterday's Papers in 1966:
