OT : R.I.P. Jim Beard, Steely Dan Keyboardist

The band's touring keyboardist since 2008 passed away on March 2 due to complications from a sudden illness. He was at 63.

Jim Beard, a solo artist and touring keyboardist for Steely Dan for the past 16 years has died. The news was confirmed by a spokesperson for the group in a statement on Wednesday (March 6) that revealed the pianist, composer, keyboardist, producer and arranger died on March 2 due to complications from a sudden illness; at press time a cause of death had not been announced.

This is very sad. I knew Jim Beard.

I still have an old clipboard that was his but I don't know how I got it.

Sorry to hear this. I have seen him both with Steely Dan and The Mahavishnu orchestra. An exceptional player. Rip Jim Beard. †
