Worth a mention

The new album from Mark Knopfler, titled One Deep River will be released globally on April 12.

Mark’s 10th solo studio album will be available in a range of formats.
One Deep River spans 12 tracks and was produced by Mark and Guy Fletcher at British Grove Studios in London. The title track reflects Knopfler’s deep affection for the river that ran through not just his childhood in Newcastle, but his whole life.


'Crossing the Tyne is always on your mind,' he says. 'It’s what you were doing when you were leaving as a youngster and that feeling is always the same every time you do it. You’re heading out or you’re coming back, and it just connects with your childhood. The power of it doesn’t go away.'

Looking forward to this release. I always have a big crush for his music and his former band Dire Straits.

Some of Mark's more recent albums have been a wee bit too maudlin...with not enough of his more playful song writing and guitar playing.

No knopfler retired from touring his 2019 tour was his last. And also his producer and keyboardist Guy Fletcher confirmed that touring days are over.
