This is proved false by Godard's movie, the set is at Olympic and the bunch records vocals

Unless Miller imply that they did not include those recordings in the final mix

about Brian contribution: it will be news to me to get to know that we owe him the shift from dylanesque ballad to the samba falvoured rhythm

all I have read before is consistent with the image of Brian as filmed by Godard in One plus One, that is: a member of the band almost not active anymore, or put in a corner by the rest (as your vision of the history of the band suits better)

'Yesterdays' was recorded with double dropped tuningon the acoustic, George Harrison used alternate tuning on 'Dear Prudence' and 'Julia', Lennon on 'Strawberry Fields'.

I don't think they ever used slide guitar before they split. Harisson did become a true slide master though in his later recording years.

No, I am just restating Jimmy Miller's claim that all vocals for Beggars and LIB were recorded at Sunset Sound.

There's plenty of footage of Jagger doing vocal takes at Olympic, but according to Miller (and later Jagger too) Sunset Sound had a studio specifically equipped for vocal recordings.

Also they found out that if you recorded part of an album outside England the recording costs can be deducted from tax.

The guy below was recorded in 1917 and he even didn't need a bloody open tuning. A beautiful vibrato. And yes, it's Hawaiian influenced.Dangerous in pop/rock music.

Unfortunately he couldn't swim in the expanse of cold salt water that covers most of the earth's surface and surrounds its land masses (source: Wikipedia).All this unlike Brian Jones, who could swim like a champ but unfortunately managed to drown in a small swimming pool containing approximately 100 cubic meter of 65 degrees Celsius freshwater. At best.

Hmm... seemingly the Beatles got it first with a fuzz box, but the Stones - read: Brian Jones - win the category of the forerunners with slide guitar and open tunings. Thank god our team had Brian in roster, so there is at least something the Stones did before the Beatles.

Anything before them do not count since it was just raw material, including the use of 'exotic' instruments or sounds, for them to make countable pop diamonds out of them. For example, with this logic the Stones basically invented samba rhythm in "Sympathy For the Devil" - a sweet effective 60's Beatlelogist idea of being innovative in use! "Genius"!

But wasn't it not Frank but his wife Helen that was lost in a deep blue sea?

Thank you for your serious respond Doxa. All I wanted to point out is that in my perception things in music are relative and a matter of taste. There are more precious things in life. At least that's what I realised when writing my previous post, after two bottles of red wine.

Now to be a total anorak -this track was recorded in what you call Hawaiian tuning or 'slack key' tuning, or 'taro patch', which basically is an open G tuning with an added low D. Most pro players would tune up to open A.
