How to remove hardcoded subtitles from .mp4?
Posted by: stonesman87 ()

I've been researching this topic. The main problem seems to be that it's not easy to remove hardcoded subtitles. I haven't found a succesful method or online site so far.

Does anybody know how to, or are hardcoded subs truly embedded in the video?

They are embedded in the mp4 video.

The hardcoded subtitles are part of the video pixels. You cannot remove them, but can cover them with an overlay.

AI will be able to do it soon but not yet.

Except you take a screenshot of a frame, open it in Photoshop, remove the suptitles using AI and then move on to the next frame. hot smiley

move on to the next frame

AI-based video editing tools will do that too.

Thanks everybody for all the advice. Gets me back to where I started and confirms what I expected.

BTW, for years, I've been using the piece of paper on my TV screen for constant long-running on-screen advertising nags, sometimes for the entire length of movies. It's no small contradiction that the TV stations don't overlay these nags in ad breaks, saving them only for program transmission. angry smileyangry smileyangry smiley

I've used a logo remover on some of my Rolling Stones Concerts
