My mom was reading Danielle Steel's book Rouge and it mentions the rolling stones and the main character actually talks to Mick Jagger. I was wondering if she had to the the stones and micks consent to use the names on her book?

They can be named, band or person, in songs. What's the difference. It's not like stealing their IP.
