From the original UC outtakes, could never make out the lyrics, sounded like "Still in Love", we then got a version called "Chainsaw Rocker" [www.youtube.com] and we finally got a better version in 2014 and it's "actual" title : "You Better Stop That" : [www.youtube.com]

Maybe i'm wrong but it seems to me that are not the same song!

One of my top three, in no particual order - Undercover, Black and blue, Goat's head soup..........Based on which ones I play the most.

having said that, GHS deluxe gets played 2 - 3 times a week.

I remember Warner Bros. sending out a promo cassette ahead of the release. It contained short snippets of some (or all) of the songs on Undercover. It certainly got us pumped for the record and looking forward to a potential '84 US tour...

"(On Undercover) the songs are much stronger. I think Mick's come up with some good sort of lyrics and his VOICE sounds great on it. And there's also - there's a good feel to it. I think Mick and Keith have done really well on this album. The only fault I've got against it is again they've spent MUCH too long mixing the bloody thing. And, as a result, the actual sound of the instruments is a little bit harder and cold, whereas when they're still in the early stages, when they're just basic tracks, to me a lot of those things sound better"

First bought this on cassette on day of release and vividly remember driving down Barrack St in Perth towards Wellington. Windows down, playing it quite loudly in the car. Got a red light at corner of Hay Street. Someone came over to my stopped car as Undercover the track was playing and asked “who is THAT?” I replied it was the new Rolling Stones album. He was incredulous, and said he was off to buy it because it sounded nothing like them.

Love it apart from Too Much Blood and Feel on Baby. They’re just not The Stones to me.

Still in my top five of Stones albums. Fantastic energy, last album they still had that combination of danger, drugs and sex around them.

The writing is fantastic, the lyrics are fantastic, the singing is fantastic, the playing is fantastic.

The production always was a bit dated, but for the last couple of years it has aged quite well. The production of Hackney Diamonds is closer to Undercover than anything else.

If you don't think tracks like Undercover, She Was Hot, Tie You Up, Too Much Blood, Pretty Beat Up, Too Tough and All The Way Down aren't good Stones tracks then you should listen to different bands. The Stones is not the band for you.

Totally agree with this statement.

If you don't think tracks like Undercover, She Was Hot, Tie You Up, Too Much Blood, Pretty Beat Up, Too Tough and All The Way Down aren't good Stones tracks then you should listen to different bands. The Stones is not the band for you.

The 1st CD pressing. This is the very 1st CD of The Rolling Stones for European market. Packed in heavy plastic smooth sided jewel case. According to Felix Aeppli it appeared hit the shelves simultaneously with LP.
Matrix: CDP 7 46024 2 CP35-3087-1 1A1 (the 1st glass master, the 1st 'father', mother 'A', the 1st stampler). Disc is made in Japan at Toshiba plant.

Digital content - allegedly, flat transfer from the original LP master tape. Made in primitive conditions of 1983. As close to the original as you can get . Wanna Hold You (3:16).

This is one of the last editions from 2020. It is SHM-CD from Japanese only series that was issued to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1st visit of The Rolling Stones to Japan. Mini-vinyl replica package with a replica of Japanese OBI for 1983 LP. Digital content originated from downsampling of the DSD material that was made as a flat transfer of the original master tape in 2011 to produce a series of SHM-SACD discs (Japan only). As close to the original as you can get, again . Wanna Hold You (3:16).
