Torn and Frayed.... My favorite tune on Exile...

So are gone Charlie, Jim, Bobby, Nicky, Jimmy (Miller)...

It is chilling

so sad (if true)

he was a vital piece of what made them sound so unique and incredible in the early 70's

they would have been noticeably lesser without his contributions

how did no one notice this for eight months?confused smiley

He and Bobby were great and added so much to the band.I also like his keyboards on Torn and Frayed and Moonlight Mile.Didn’t he also come up with the horn riff for Heartbreaker

You post an excellent question, Professor Wolf.
The answer is quite simple, in my opinion. Mr Price excelled at many things.
He was an excellent musician, arranger and producer. He was also a master at hide and seek.

During the production of the Nellcote Chronicles I really tried to track Jim Price down. Musicians, film producers, cameramen, remote family members all helped. I never succeeded finding him. I think Jim preferred it that way.

That being said, this spring I finally solved the riddle. Are we to believe the Wiki entry from last week, however, it was already too late.

I’m devastated. I can not believe we have lost yet another crucial team member of the Rolling Stones “golden years”, and an important contributor to Exile on Main St (++).

You were the best at hide and seek Mr Price - I give you that.
Where were you all these years?
Did you ever write any of your stories down?
What secrets did you bring with you?

Wish we could have met -

Fantastic musician. A big loss. RIP Jim !
There are some cool interviews with Jim in the Bobby Keys movie.
They were magic together.

Can you elaborate on you solving the riddle?

In all those 40 years the only footage of Jim I know of was him playing trumpet with a large group of famous and half-famous musicians. If I recall correctly Sheryl Crow was there as well, and they could have played Bitch, but I am not sure. It was around 2008. Jim had turned completely bald, and gained some weight, but look unmistakenly like Jim Price.

Fanatic version btw (headphones required). Although Crow's voice doesn't fit in this type of music imo. Too soft.

Ah there is the footage! Eddie van Halen is quite known though...

As far as I know the only time Keys and Price played together after 1973, and the only time Price played live since 1973 as well.

You right, top notch. Crow does her thing, but it's all right.

Three musicans here left the building, sadly..
