Heartbreakers Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench and Steve Ferrone along with guitarist Chris Holt and bassist Lance Morrison from Campbell's band The Dirty Knobs backed Dylan on "Maggie's Farm","Positively 4th Street" and "Ballad Of A Thin Man".

The Dylan surprise was SO awesome. Bob can of course be hit or miss, but he was firing on all cylinders like we have not seen in some time - at least to these ears. Epic.

Bob Dylan and the Heartbreakers!
The best we've seen live Bob in years.
Would luv to see him tour with this band.

Dylan fans are still reeling after last weekends performance.
(I know I am! hot smiley)
Here is a great BTS interview with Lance Morrison the bassist, about the gig and rehearsals.

Horrible performance of "Maggy's Farm". Lousy playing, bad singing ... I'm saying that as Dylan fan. Just really really bad.

a bit underrehearsed, I'd say.
As a Dylan fan you should know it's "Maggie's Farm" (not "Maggy's Farm")

Speaking of Mike Campbell, I thought I'd share this video of What's In My Bag? [Home Edition] via Amoeba Records (vinyl record store) that he did last year.

To me, this is a summary of the great music of the 60's from the vinyl albums Campbell purchased that he discusses.

James Brown - 20 All-Time Greatest Hits (LP)
Howlin' Wolf - The Legendary Sun Performers (LP)
The Rolling Stones - 12x5 (LP)
The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night (LP)
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home (LP)
Bob Dylan - Desire (LP)
The Kinks - The Best Of The Kinks (LP)

The vintage Zenith portable suitcase stereo is great as well.

HARD TO HANDLE vol. 2? Great to see Bob playing guitar. Loved the versions of "Positively Fourth Street" and "Ballad of A Thin Man". Touching in a way only Dylan is able to do. "Maggie's Farm" gets better when the band and Bob find the groove after some difficulties in the beginning.
