So I’m planning on traveling to Vancouver, LA and Santa Clara from The Netherlands.
Any suggestions for a safe stay in LA?
What’s the best area to stay? Also logistic-wise to the stadium, downtown etc.

Thx!
Grtz

Hotels booked for Glendale and Vegas! I will just drive home after the LA concerts. I am very excited that I should have 4 concerts this tour! Due to caregiving responsibilities, I can only be away from home one night, so I am pleased to have 4 drivable shows!! I am very EXCITED!!!

where are you staying? I was able to book Mandalay Bay. Booked flights but probably driving. Have to meet for that after show drink again.

The wretched Luxor again. Opted for the short walk to/from the stadium. Hope to meet up with you again, Daspy!

We definitely should. I was going to do the Luxor but Mandalay was just a little more. I have a week at the Luxor in February for 3 U2 shows and the Superbowl so wanted to mix it up.

I've seen complaints in this thread about Metlife and Sofi stadiums. Can anyone comment on the stadiums in Vegas, Seattle and Vancouver? They are on my potentials list. What is the sound like? (I know no stadium is 'good' for music). And are they easy to get in/out of?

thanks

syrel

Was in the pit for Vegas last time and it sounded really good. Levi's sounded good too, just a clusterf@ck getting in and out of there, Was on the floor just beyond the B-stage and it sounded really bad. Its a big hole in the ground.

Would the second Chicago date really be on the 27th? Only two days off in between seems tight for them. Selfishly I'm hoping for the 26th so I can at least hit one!
.

Seems consistent with SoFi. But I was wondering the same thing.

We will return to New York after 21 years to attend the two Stones concerts, we will travel from Barcelona. We are very excited! . We have a reservation for 7 nights from May 22 to 29 at the Holiday Inn Express Wood Side Queens Hotel and Suite, (1.246 €), a relatively affordable price in NY for spring. If anyone is interested, there are still rooms at this price.

That's a good choice. A bit of a hike to NJ, but that's just 2 nights out of 7. I really enjoyed my stay in Queens for the Barclays show - stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Flushing, right next to the park. There's more to NYC than Times Square.

Some further hotel advice:

Houston
It's even less public transit-oriented than Los Angeles, but there is a small and questionably-reliable tram that can take you from the somewhat nicer environs of Downtown, the Museum District, and the Medical Center area to near the stadium, with some walking involved. The hotel that sits off Mecom Fountain, at the intersection of the Museum District and Hermann Park, is in a very nice location, albeit without the same degree of commercial services you'll find downtown, at least during a weekday and hidden in the indoor tunnel complex along with all the people. I might also suggest hotels around the Dryden/TMC medical center stop, slightly closer to the stadium and near the campus of Rice University - the Marriott is closest to the rail stop, and there's also a Westin and Hilton. Those with a car might prefer the perhaps-more-suburban and upscale Galleria and River Oaks areas, though I would opt instead for something walkable to the Menil Collection museum in the Montrose area.

New Orleans
I'll limit my comments, but note that shuttle buses to the festival run from the Sheraton on Canal St and the river at Toulouse St, so it's best to be walking distance to one or both of those locations, or perhaps a streetcar ride away in the Garden District, where some decent values might be found in a sometimes-nice, but less convenient area. Hotels at the farther reaches of the Warehouse Arts district near the Convention Center may be closer to some nightlife opportunities - others will lie in the opposite direction towards the Faubourg-Marigny - but are a bit less attractive or convenient for reaching the fairgrounds. Nightlife, though, is a significant if secondary part of the Jazz Fest experience, given that the fairgrounds close at 7. My intuition, and it is only that, says that it just might be a good idea to be near the Superdome area after hours (not that that I expect anything inside the stadium), though it is otherwise a bit less attractive, at least further away from Lafayette Square.

Phoenix
I can't comment on the stadium area, but in this car culture might recommend staying in the Scottsdale/Paradise Valley area, where the Marriott on Camelback mountain is a good alternative to the most luxe resorts, and the mid-century "Valley Ho" perhaps among others nearby would be a good, somewhat cheaper option, especially for the party-oriented.

Seattle
It doesn't have a great deal of personality - Seattle tends to be subdued outside the stadium walls - and isn't inexpensive, but there's a good regional chain immediately adjacent to the stadium. They also have properties further away on newly-fancy/corporate South Lake Union and, even less conveniently-located, at the suburban edge of the sometimes-pleasant University District, in the more central part of which better bargains like the StayPineapple property can be found along with the local alternative culture, for better or worse, also found around the Pike/Pine corridor on Capitol Hill. The semi-funky Fremont and Ballard neighborhoods may also be appealing especially to those with a car, but hotels in Pioneer Square or otherwise Downtown-into-Belltown, especially downhill towards the water, are best-located, with the one "at" the Pike Place Market perhaps ideal, depending on your taste for tourists.

NYC
In the best transit city in the country, just about anywhere will do, but especially with weekend service disruptions common, it's probably better to be in Manhattan than Queens, say, not that there's anything wrong with it or Brooklyn by any means. The Penn Station area, from which trains to the stadium depart, is fairly unattractive, but hotels in Chelsea are walkable to it - if the one facing the High Line from Tenth Avenue is too dear, the one just off Eighth below 23rd Street might be a good alternative. Down in the Village, so might be the one just off the NW corner of Washington Square Park, with hipper and probably more expesive options in SoHo and further downtown. And uptown, so might be the one three blocks South of Zabar's on Broadway, among other Upper West Siders nearby. Just a few among many options. Hoboken, NJ is even closer to the stadium, and you may find good views of the city from near the water, but it isn't NYC, to which you can connect by transit, and I don't know that the savings if any would be worth it.

Philadelphia
Hotels on Broad Street are most conveniently located for transportation purposes, but I prefer the short additional walk to those on or closer to Rittenhouse or Logan Squares, where the boutique/extended-stay business hotels may offer relative values, as might apartment rentals at the risk of questionable charges. And don't overlook those around Penn's Landing/Old City/Society Hill/Washington Square, or in a circumscribed part of University City, adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania campus or just across the Walnut St bridge, which in some cases might be preferable. There's also the casino hotel if you must be walking-distance to the venue, though with nothing much else around.

Cleveland
I don't know Cleveland well, and might prefer to stay closer to the venue, perhaps on Playhouse Square, but I note the opportunity to stay in the Marcel Breuer-designed former Ameritrust tower, an Autograph Collection property, or facing it at the Kimpton across the street, both a block from the Southern Tier brewery with some cheaper options nearby.

Denver
I kind of like a place by the train station and Wynkoop Brewing, co-founded by Colorado's former Governor, now one of its Senators, but those next door to the Four Seasons are a bit nearer - a long walk from - the stadium, and the one that's a Doubletree trying to be cool has a Stones-themed suite.

Chicago
There are some decent to good-value walking-distance options on S. Michigan Ave, assuming Formula One closures don't interfere, perhaps especially the former Essex Inn, now a Le Meridien property. Closer to the center of the Loop, you have the not-that-expensive opportunity among many others to stay in Daniel Burnham's historic Reliance Building, now a StayPineapple, or his sons' Carbide & Carbon Building, now a Pendry. Personally, I might prefer to be on the Gold Coast, as close to Oak Street Beach as possible, and preferably East of Michigan Ave, though the fairly British boutique is still there just West of it, across from the Four Seasons.

Los Angeles
If I were to try to get to the show without a car, I think I might rather stay at LAX and take the bus or a potentially-pricey cab along Century Blvd - or, dicier, the bus down La Brea/Prairie from Hollywood - than chance one of the walking-distance motels. But this is a car culture, so anywhere will do, though I might prefer to try to come down Lincoln Boulevard from Marina del Rey/Venice/Santa Monica or maybe up Sepulveda from one of the beach communities, to trying the 405 freeway. The b&b at the foot of the Ballona Wetlands is a quiet little retreat from the madness with a bit of a Central Coast feel.

If the order is right and they want 2 breaks somewhat evenly spaced out, looks like the usual week(s) off will be #1- around E Rutherford, NJ and #2 around Denver or Cleveland. Seem like a good guess?

Thanks for info. In 2019; in Denver after show took me over 2 hours to get a taxi it was a mess. Finally a couple I was chatting to from St Louis told me to go to their hotel & they ordered me a taxi…took 10 minutes. Not enough taxis not planned good.

For the two shows at Metlife Stadium in NY/NJ it is easiest to stay at some of the nearby hotels. However, during the "old days", where the old stadium on the same location was called Giants Stadium, I remember taking one of many shuttle buses from my Manhattan hotel, I stayed near MSG, and I think the buses left from the Port Authority Bus Station area (between Eighth and Ninth avenues and 40 and 42 st). I don't know if these buses/Coaches do still run. There were plenty of them in the "old" days...

I meant to mention as well. Some bus service through Port Authority has fallen victim to the pandemic, but the 351 bus to the stadium for concert events was still operating as of this summer. The area is not much nicer than that around Penn Station, but if you can afford a hotel right off Bryant Park or in the blocks East around Grand Central Terminal, that would be a good option. Assuming they are running as normal, the Q/N/R, 7, and S shuttle trains all provide convenient access from parts of the East Side of Manhattan, Queens, and Downtown Brooklyn.

Expect potentially-long waits for the bus, but probably in less cramped quarters than taking NJ Transit rail.

VTA doesn't run late enough to safely connect you to points West after the show - East to San Jose may be ok - but can be used at other times to connect at Mountain View to and from Caltrain to Palo Alto, San Francisco, and its airport.

Seattle: we stayed in Ballard and drove downtown, found street parking walkable to bars/restaurants pre-show, then easy walk to stadium. We were in the Pit and sound was fine, and personally I found it one of the easiest stadiums of the tours I followed to get in and out of. *My experience only, other experiences may differ smiling smiley

Lots of things still open along the Magnificent Mile in Chicago but will probably jump considerably upon announcement. I booked refundable rooms around both dates.

Last time in Cleveland we stayed at the Hyatt Arcade which has a cool little entertainment area right outside with restaurants and bars, an easy walk to both stadiums, R&R HOF, etc. Will mention the Hyatt has new quiet modern rooms and older historic rooms that can be quite loud if there's a reception of any sort going on so be careful you book what you want.

Very walkable from the downtown hotels to Lumen Field in Seattle. Just watch which street you walk on as huge homeless problem, drugs, mental health issues, and they congregate on certain streets that are between downtown and the stadium. I would walk along 1st Avenue as it is very safe.

Yes, babyblue, *Denver* was a hassle getting back to the hotels. Walking with friends, we had to go quite a distance, in crowds of people. Tried to get an uber two-thirds of the way, very high prices and they couldn't get through traffic.
