Damn. I was just watching something with him on state with Clapton. I never realized how good he was on guitar.

Wow - this is a shock. He was a incredible musician. His work in “the Band”
and his solo work was excellent. I highly recommend the documentary “Once Were
Brothers”. Thanks for the ride Robbie - Rest in Peace…

Man, these guys are filing out at an alarming rate. A massive influence within the music community back in the late 60’s early 70’s. Robbie was a terrific guitarist and songwriter. A sad day for fans of The Band, Dylan. RIP Robbie and thanks for the music!

Perhaps this is what you were watching, from the Last Waltz...Eric's guitar strap comes loose at about 40 sec. and Robbie immediately steps in and later on, and much to Eric's surprise, Robbie starts matching him lick for lick, very cool.

Rip Robbie.

Sad day. I love the Band and recently spent some time visiting Rick Danko’s former stomping grounds in Simcoe, Ontario. Bill’s Corners and Blayney to be more precise.

Robbie was, like all his band mates, an incredible talent.

RIP

I discovered The Band through Robbie's solo albums in the eighties (which were really good although Robbie's voice is not the strongest of voices). I learned that he was partially of indian descent also.
He was a decent actor too and a very good story teller. I think he had a good life - may he rest in peace.

Because it shows the universal message of music, in this case being used to bring change in the world. Thanks for sharing, I’d not seen this one.

Oh man. Dagger. What a loss. He created an amazing body of work that caught the attention of all the British rockers of the era starting with "Music From Big Pink"...and had the perfect band to bring it to life.

Rip Robbie.

Robbie's mic may not be plugged in on The Last Waltz but his guitar playing is absolutely extrordinary all night.

Loved The Band and their early albums. Love Robertson's solo stuff. His first solo album still sounds so right. It was the second CD I bought back when CD's were the thing. RIP. There's one helluva heavenly band awaiting you.

BTW, pmk251, thank you for the post of the Playing For Change version of The Weight. So cool and so right for the moment.
