I think more to the point is that it was pi**ing down with rain here in London last night (as can be seen in some of the photos) and those steps were no doubt a tad slippery!

If he needs help down the stairs there are two plausible reasons for that: Age or health (injury). Or the two combined. You could add intoxication too - but I think this picture is from the beginning of the party.
It would be interesting though to hear, from someone who attended the occasion, the real status of his foot/knee injury.

Anjelica Huston was the girlfriend of the great actor Jack Nicholson.I think Jack was a close friend of Micks for years, so she must have met Mick through Jack, so that is why she is there.Jack has pretty much retired from films and public life.

If you look at all the other photos of people arriving/leaving the party, you can see they are all being supported by a doorman or bouncer... the stairs must have been slippery and the club didn't want a law suit is my guess

It was wet and slippery outside. He was surely royally sozzled - well, I'd hope he would be: it was his 80th, after all! He deserves a drink... or 10! - so that accounts for any support outside, in my opinion.
