OT - Foreigner Farewell Tour

[ultimateclassicrock.com]

I couldn't stop laughing reading the comments in this article about the "farewell tour" of a band WITH NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS. What a joke. Their "audience" has no idea who they are and don't care if any one of them doesn't show up for a show. They are going to see "Foreigner" and hear "Hot Blooded" no matter what hack is singing it or what d-level musician is playing bass. But these guys want to "go out while we're at our absolute best."

What idiots...

Seeing "The Tams" Labor Day weekend. None of the guys in the band were born anywhere near the 1950s.

That's still better than NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS."

Isn't Mick Jones still with them? Foreigner is one of those bands where the majority of the fans don't know who is/was in the band, like Styx. I think Molly Hatchet is still around and I don't think any of the original members is still alive!

Another 'no original members' band is Trooper. Their oldest joined in 2009.

Also Tangerine Dream. The main guy died a few years ago and now the hired guns are carrying it.

I'm sure most non Canadians don't know Trooper! I see they're playing at a rock festival in Maple Ridge just outside Vancouver soon, with fellow Canadians Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell and Saga!

Foreigner played in Penticton several years ago, my brother went. Mick Jones was ill that night so he didn't play so it basically was a tribute band! I'm sure most of the audience had a good time regardless.

He stopped playing with them regularly several years ago after he got too old and sick. On most nights, there are no original members.

I went to school with one of the 'new' members of Trooper.

"The Beach Boys" certainly deserve to be mentioned.

I saw Lou Gramm at a festival type show in Vegas in 2018. He went from a poor man's Robert Plant to a pudgy short guy with a band of poseurs, They knew all the moves from watching Youtube but musically were on par with 9 years olds learning how to play Guitar Hero. Atrocious set. Kind of made Axl Rose of 2023 seem like Mick Jagger. Would I go? Not even with comps.

Their show next month at Detroit's 15,000 capacity Pine Knob is nearly sold out. Among the tix still available, second row for $750 and third row for $500. Insane prices to pay for a tribute band.

I saw them open for the Stones in 1978 and never had any desire to see them again.

I saw them last summer, was a good show, singer sounds exactly like the original. No desire to go again though.

Lou actually had some serious health issues (maybe a brain tumor?). It's a miracle he's alive.

Absolutely. Calling it a Fare Well tour is clickbait. It's just a money thing.

The Rolling Stones don't need that.

Maybe Foreigner could tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd and call it the "Goodbye, No Originals In These Bands But We Want Your Money Because We Know You're Stupid Tour.

Make it a festival and throw in Molly Hatchet and The Little River Band.
