I can't tell the value but most likely it's declining. Nobody will be interested in that stuff in 20, 10 or even 5 years. The markets will be flooded with such stuff because younger people who don't care about it will inherit tons of CDs etc. and try to sell them.

The value strongly depends on the edition/pressing/item. There is no universal formula.

Some of CDs/DVDs are dirt cheap now. Like regular Austrian made CBS CDs or Virgin CDs pressed in hundred thousands all over the world.

The others continue to be pricey and even increase in value (especially promos, the 1st pressings, limited editions or some 3" singles).

For sure, youngsters do not care about CDs/DVDs and a lot of maniacs switched to records and Blu-rays. But there is always a marker of 'stamps collectors' who will pay a price for limited edition or misprint.

You can always consult the price range on discogs and make an estimation. Although, some prices there are overblown.

There’s the monitory value and what you tell your wife what it cost you. Two wildly different things ..

As mentioned above, you could compare the prices of those items on Marketplaces like [www.Discogs.com] or eBay or Amazon. And then there's the question of offer & demand, which in the end determines the prices.

Also as mentioned above, the revenues of recorded music came in 2022 in the United States 84% from streaming and 10% from physical media - [www.RIAA.com] - (PDF). In Germany it was 80% digital (streaming/download) and 19% physical media - [www.Musikindustrie.de] .

Check Discogs and eBay for recent selling prices on individual items.

If you're looking to sell your entire collection, you'd need to find a professional valuer.

If you're looking to sell your entire collection, you'd need to find a professional valuer.

Or just make a package price. If you need the money urgently, make a low package price. If the sale has time, you could try to charge a higher package price.

The plural of vinyl is "vinyl."

The single best thing you can do for yourself is create an account on DISCOGS and create your inventory of items. This is excellent because not only is it organized for you and all available at a glance, it creates a real time value for your collection, based on actual marketplace sales.

This will give you a very good estimate of what your collection is worth, and is good for insurance purposes.

that's a good way to find out the market value of records/CDs. But it might be more wise to sell stuff elsewhere where more 'idiots' are around who are not able to judge the real value (and thus are likely to pay more)

The market value of an item is whatever anyone is willing to pay for it. That said DISCOGS is great for your inventory and estimated value of your collection.

You can of course sell anywhere.

The complete SACD set will retain it's value. It was printed in relatively low numbers and the sound quality is unmatched, even 20 years on. Those cardboard boxes are pretty vulnerable, so when you have those in VG+++ condition...

Standard CD's and DVD's... maybe only the limited editions or other rare promotional stuff. Live at the Max and Let's Spend the Night together are letterbox 480i resolution at best. Sooner or later they will upscale those films to 4K or 8K widescreen with Dolby Atmos sound quality. Why on earth would you pay serious money for those old DVD's then?
