RS 12" Versions
Posted by: JordyLicks96 ()

Not sure if there's been a topic about the 12" versions of many of the Stones singles over the years. Here's my Top 5:

5. Feel On Baby (Dub Instrumental) [B-side to Undercover Of The Night 12" Mix]
4. Mixed Emotions (Chris Kimsey's 12" Mix)
3. Undercover Of The Night (12" Mix)
2. One Hit (To The Body) [London Mix]
1. Miss You (12" Mix)

Post your Top 5!!

I bought both of these 12" vinyls back in 1981 at a small local record store, and they're still prized pieces of my collection.

If I was a Dancer pt. II b/w Dance (Instrumental) - promo copy
Miss You "Special Disco Version" b/w Faraway Eyes

I have the Miss You 12" version on the Pink Vinyl. Absolutely love it. I think this one was only printed in the UK.

I to absolutely love my 12" Pink "Miss You".

I still have my pink 12" Miss You. The long version is still my favorite version.
One Hit, Mixed Emotions and Undercover are also in my collection.
Later I bought CDs and of course there are also some great pieces. I realy like the singles taken from Flashpoint and Stripped with lots of bonus tracks. I remember very well how excited I felt when I found them in the record store.
Well, those days are gone and record stores are not existing anymore. Well, some still exist but it has nothing to do with the ones I spent days in, looking for new stuff, searching for new bands and having a good time.
But of course its still possible. YouTube is my record store nowadays.
Well. And of course IORR!

That's very kind of you!
But basically I'd like to have a CD or a record.
I feel so stupid i didn't buy it at the time.
I was 14 years old back then and carefully building up my stones collection.
But I forgot to think about what i could buy back then only.
I have a sharp recollection in my mind of all the stones items I should have bought but didn't buy.
I think the too much blood was included in a 2cd version of flashpoint. And i remember that item clearly. It was in a record store "free record shop' in Amsterdam Kalverstraat. It was a basement. But it was 75 guilders and way out of reach for a student like me.

I try to forget Terrifying, Blinded By Love, and Almost Hear You Sigh whenever possible as formulaic schlock released by the band to pad Steel Wheels, an LP which would have made a very good EP.

On the subject of 12", the Miss You 8:36 is among the band's finest moments in the Some Girls era, and I wholly concur with the Dance/If I Was a Dancer 12" being fabulous. The One Hit 12" is among the band's greatest true rock & roll moments in the 1980s. Too Much Blood cannot be overlooked, either, as it and the Feel On Baby were efforts by the band to stretch its capabilities that really worked!

Too Much Blood (Main Vocal) on the 3" CD Sad Sad Sad is the first part until the break of the Dance Version. The 2nd part and the Dub Version are unavailable on CD so far (officially).

I think I have all of them. The 12" Hot Stuff in blue marbled vinyl comes to mind as the first one. 12" Emotional Rescue, Start Me Up, Undercover, She Was Hot.

Anyone have the 50th Anniversary Satisfaction, or the 55th Anniversary, in Emerald vinyl?

There's a 12" JJF from 1990 I believe.

There's some sweet stuff out there.

Also, do we do a new thread for 10" singles or can we include them here...10" Yellow RSD She's a Rainbow and 10" blue vinyl for Ride'em on Down?

Well, i would love to hear the ones you mention. This is the tracklist of the 2CD set:

CD1
01. Start Me Up (Extended Version)
02. Undercover Of The Night (Extended Mix)
03. Sexdrive (12" Club Version)
04. Terryfying (Steve Thompson 12" Re-Mix)
05. Too Much Blood (Chris Kimsey Vocal Mix)
06. Harlem Shuffle (12 Inch Only Mix)
07. Miss You (Original Twelve Inch Mix)
08. Winning Ugly (London Mix)
09. Mixed Emotions (Chris Kimsey Mix)
10. If I Was A Dancer (Promo Only 12" Version)
11. Hot Stuff (Promo Only 12" Version)

CD2
01. Brown Sugar (Extended Remix)
02. Gimme Shelter (Extended 12" Remix)
03. Jumpin' Jack Flash (Ultrasound Extended Mix)
04. Let's Spend The Night Together (Ultrasound Extended Mix)
05. One Hit To The Body (London Mix)
06. Rock & A Hard Place (Extended Club Remix)
07. Satisfaction (Ultrasound Extended Retro Mix)
08. Sympathy For The Devil (Ultrasound Extended Mix)
09. Miss You (Ultrasound Extended Mix)
10. Emotional Rescue (Ultrasound Extended Mix)
11. Under My Dub (White Label Promo Mix)

It's obvious i already have some of them (CD 1 i am only missing tracks 01, 10 and 11) but i don't recall any of the ones of CD2). And i don't get the impression it is a complete collection.

Doom & Gloom and LIAGT, Rock in a Hard Place/AHYS from RSD are the other 10". I think there's also one more RSD from Rio.

There's the clear/yellow and I presume other vinyl versions of C-sucker Blues b/w the Clapton Brown Sugar - that of course is a boot.

There's a Paint it Black from 1990, a "Call of Duty" prompted release I think. The JJF issue was actually from 87.

You have One Hit, Winning Ugly & Harlem Shuffle from Dirty Work
Mixed Emotions, Rock in a Hard Place, Sad Sad Sad & Almost Hear You Sigh from Steel Wheels

Sex Drive from Flashpoint (was High Wire or anything else from that? That's the only one I have)

Voodoo Lounge had Love Is Strong, YGMR,

Bridges - Saint of Me and OOC. Was there anything for Anybody Seen My Baby?

ABB - I've never seen any 12" for that.

Was there anything else? EDIT other than the stuff that came before and was already mentioned.

Many of these "Extended Versions/Mixes" do not exist officially. Either they are outtake versions or messed up official tracks. Especially these "Ultrasound Mixes" look very suspicious to me. I don't think these are something decent. And if I see the last track: Under My Dub... No thanks!

Off the top of my head, four of my favourite longer "extended" tracks are in fact bootlegs, either as studio unedited outtakes ("Emotional Rescue", "Worried About You" and "She Was Hot"), or fan-made extended remixes ("Gimme Shelter"). I only have these in MP3 formats, but they can all be found on YouTube (which is probably where I initially grabbed them) and they do sound terrific!

As for the officially released 12" mixes, I count "Miss You", "One Hit (To The Body)" and "Undercover Of The Night" amongst my top picks. "Feel On Baby", "Mixed Emotions", and "Too Much Blood" are pretty cool too.

The Paint it Black single you mentioned is from Tour of Duty. Not Call of Duty spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Ha!

I conflated the video game with the show, which I've never seen.

I did mention YGMR, I have that too.

Somehow I missed ABSMB when it was released on vinyl, I did get the CD single though. I just checked and it actually hit number one in Canada...didn't see that happening!
