bought this at a store at Carnaby Street in the 80s.
Long time ago... Was stored among other things in the garage and found it last weekend.
Still like it and will hang it on my walls again.

What I want to know: Is this a genuine merchandise poster from the 60s?

Nice poster, it’s hard to say if it’s real or repro…

They probably flipped Brian's image to better balance the poster, which I've seen done many times.

Looks like it’s mounted on cardboard? It’s a nice clean good looking poster.
Probably authentic and was used to promote the record release. To be sure of
authenticity you should compare (both poster size and image quality) to a known authentic example. Some of these early promotional posters are very rare - with
only a handful surviving.

It's not mounted on cardboard, it's just in a frameless holder. That was the cheapest solution for me as pupil. I think I have to change that frame...
It's printed on relatively thin paper and I remember that I had to carry it in my hand (rolled and a paperbag around the middle to avoid the sweat of my hands will make it wavy) all the way from London to Cologne because I only had a small rucksack with me and it was kind of stressful to avoid damage to it. Luckily no rain on that journey.

You may be right because not even Matt could give some info.And I have some promotional posters of other bands from the 80s from a recordstore in Cologne and they all are printed on cheap thin paper.

My gut says it's a bootleg but I could be wrong and I would want to inspect it in person to add more evidence for or against. I first thought it looked like a press ad but it's actually pretty big. The large white boarder was unusual but now I am looking on a laptop it appears that there is a white background making it look larger that it is. For me the two things I am uncomfortable about are the resolution of the reproduction and perhaps even more importantly the in correct font for The Rolling Stones. The EP had this cover design but No Rolling Stones, In my view it's been made from the EP artwork, hence the poorer resolution and then because the EP didn't have The Rolling Stones written that has been added in the same font but if it were real The would have had a capital T and the whole name would have been a tighter font consistent with the Album cover. As a general rule I tend to believe nothing until there is overwhelming evidence to support somethings authenticity.

Personally, I think it is a bootleg and agree with Matt.

Most of the older posters I have show numbering or lettering either at the very bottom or on the back.

And the reverse negative of Brian doesn't make sense on a professionally made poster. There were plenty of images of Brian they could have used where they were not reversed.

It would also seem to me if it was a legit poster there would be images on Google when you do a search.
