I think it's partly an American phenomena. A large part of the Taylor Swift audience here in Sweden (Stockholm, 3 concerts, 150 000 audience in total) were flown in Americans.
Apparently it was cheaper for them to fly to Europe and stay a couple of days at a hotel than the single ticket cost in the US...

Pearl jam had a go at ‘US’ style pricing for euro tour this time. £160 for standing. Not worked out too well with incremental price cuts and thousands of empty seats for London and Manchester, many dumped on resale platforms and knock down prices
Something wrong when it costs more to see pearl jam than Bruce, eagles, Taylor, foo fighters, green day

Pearl Jam is definitely on the level of Green Day and Foo Fighters.

Yep and I’m paying 160 to see them (for the 8th time) point being I saw the foos for 80 quid last night and seeing green day next week for similar

Fair enough, but PJ tickets costing more than Taylor? I hope you mean James Taylor and not Taylor Swift. I got GA grass for PJ in Indiana (8/26) for $81 total. I think that’s reasonable.

Comparable to Taylor in uk- standing was about £150-180 for swift (I got middling seats for me and the kids for 90 quid each). Cheapest pj tickets on on sale day for Manchester were 160 (flat pricing across entire arena) and London (spurs stadium) 125 or 160.
81 dollars a steal. Last time I saw pj in London was 135 golden circle at Hyde park for TWO nights. So a bit of a shock 3 years later…..

Same goes for the numerous (6?) French gigs. Lots of US fans. And they took full benefit of seeing their idol in a "small" venue (40000 capacity).
