you won't miss much. cool idea in theory - in reality, it wasn't money well-spent for me.

On-stage seats went on sale well after the original sale date in the US.

T&A, I respectfully disagree. I thought it was amazing. So much fun, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

And you guys are right about the delay. The onstage tickets only went on sale about 2 weeks before I saw them in Boston, don't know about the rest of the tour.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Bad sightlines, poor sound. It's an interesting vantage-point for maybe 10 minutes and then the novelty wears off. You're not really breathing the Stones air or anything close to it. It's really akin to watching the show from behind the stage (I've done that too). My hunch is that the Stones are gonna try something else out in Europe...and that's a good thing.

I was lower level Keef side and out toward the end in box 2. Sound was excellent and sight lines were good unless raining.

Well worth doing once.

My experience behind the stage was nothing like the on-stage. And you're right, it wasn't as though you are there next to them or anything, but I just never was able to be so close that you felt the vibration of the music, and I've seen them front row before, so for me, it was amazing.

Here's a couple pics I took.

nice shots, cindy. that's about the vantage I had at SF1. At SF2 (for $100 less) I was taking in the full scope of the show, actually able to watch the band from the front (not to mention the tremendous video screen) and hear the show from the PA in all its glory. you make the call. SF2 experience was much better, IMO,

Thanks!

I saw the first Boston show from the 15th row with the $450 tickets (free for me though, YAY!), so I got to see the screen, et al. Stage seat was much better experience for me though. The people near me were f*king duds, and mostly stood there watching.

But I might change my mind and say front row is better. When I saw them front row in NY back in '94, I was waving and yelling so loud for Keith, that he actually stopped playing and cracked up for a second. So yeah, that was a better experience, now that I think back. But for those that aren't as lucky as we are to get front row, I still say onstage is well worth it.

We could fight about this all day, I suppose. I still consider myself lucky anytime I get to go see them. I became a fan in the 80's right when they stopped touring. For ten years, I didn't think I'd ever get the chance. That's why you won't catch me participating on the set-list complaint posts anymore.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

That was the scam. they hyped it up nice.

CindyC...the 3rd pic from the top (of Jagger bathed in red, pointing up) is outstanding!

I know! I love that one too. Sadly, it's probably the only time in my life that I'll get the opportunity to be on top of him. ;-)

just a friendly debate. I hear ya - I'm just saying that my expectations were really not met. I think these tickets should have been upgrades-only for folks in the rafters - not sold as "on stage" (a misnomer, for sure) for $250 a pop.

T&A,

I was a bit bummed out too when I found out I wasn't going to be right on stage, so I think I actually lowered my expectations before I went, therefore, I was pleasantly surprised by how much fun it was.

As for the $250 bucks, yeah, it's a lot, but the first ticket I had for that night was close to $200 bucks and that was up in the top section of Fenway, so to me, I thought it was a deal.

Do you know if they are they still doing free beer and wine?

Hi Cindy.....your photos look like mine from Moncton. The onstage seats at Moncton were the best! The crowd was said to be 80,000, but I thought there were many more. Those on-stage seats were great. I would rather be front row.....but the onstage seats were very exciting.

well - apparently they're done with the whole on-stage bit now. but, in SF, there was no free anything. i was a little perturbed that I had to miss a whole number to wait for an escort to use the portapotty (add insult to injury: I lost my beloved Jamison leather flask in the you-know-where!).

Re: No On Stage tickets on sale?

Sorry about your flask. Your loss is probably what tainted your whole "on stage" experience. Or perhaps, the free wine was what enhanced mine?

my first instinct was to see if I could retrieve it! Actually, I had a good time "on stage", but it just wasn't worth $250, IMO. I've spent far less for far better experiences. wouldn't have known if I hadn't tried, though.

You didn't really consider retreiving it, did you!? OMG that's so gross. Did you ever see that JackAss episode where the guy goes into the portapotty and they tip it upside while he's in there. It was unbelievably nasty.

Hey Shawn, can you post some of your pictures?

Seems they're NOT done with on stage. This is from the European tour press release on rollingstones, com:

In Europe, the Stones will fulfil the ultimate dream of music lovers across the globe, offering the unimaginable - the opportunity to be onstage with them. Several hundred spots are built directly into the stadium set, offering fans the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share the excitement and adrenaline rush of being onstage as the Rolling Stones perform to an audience of 50,000 plus

why dont they put these tickets on sale at the same time as the regular tickets?

or would that be too sensible an idea?

Re: No On Stage tickets on sale?

Could be that with some of the European arenas being smaller they have not sussed out how many seats/spaces can physically fit into the 'on stage' apartment blocks yet?!
