Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter, dies aged 79

So sad. R.I.P.
She wrote many of their greatest songs.

Absolutely devastating. Nothing against the "cool" women in rock N roll: Stevie Nicks, Pat Benetar, Grace Slick. But to me, the pinnacle of rock N roll women was Christine McVie. She wasn't the most attractive one (but was still beautiful) so she never sold her sex as the appeal (not criticizing the others that did; flaunt it if and while you've got it) and she could just damn play and write music. She was a great musician and a fantastic writer, and next to Lindsey she was always my second favorite above Stevie to me. Wrote so many beautiful songs, and it was wonderful for Everywhere to have a comeback this year with whatever car commercial it was in. An unmistakable voice too.

Very sad. I know all of those women listed could "hang with the boys", but Christine to me always felt like one of them. She was in a class of her own, and she hung with Fleetwood Mac in the EARLY days, when it was rowdy and definitely not glamorous. Always respected her a lot and felt she really walked the walk. Also always respected her for walking away for 20 years to just do her own thing out of the spotlight, but was so happy when she finally returned.

Songbird has always been one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs and I will be playing it on repeat for the next week or so. Kinda can't believe, of the classic 5, she was the first to go.

Very sad news. Lovely lady, the music was great and her voice too.

So glad I bought the Peter Green Tribute concert from 2020.

Will watch this again this week in her honour.

Terrible news. What to say I don't know.

I really admired her, she was so great in so many ways. I am thankful for the music left behind.

Absolutely gobsmacked to read this. Christine's voice, her music, her soul and spirit have meant so much to me over the years. A class act, and so talented.

Songbird is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded, IMO. And there were so many other wonderful Mac tracks on which she shined.

since then i was (next to our stones) a fan of fleetwod mac.

Very sad - Stevie and Lindsey got a lot of attention, but Christine really produced a ton of great songs for a very long time. For those not familiar, this is a great pre-Buckingham Nicks track by her.

"Over My Head" was the quintessential 70's laid back chill song. I always loved how it started off low and soft and gradually built up the first verse. She sang it with her slightly gruff voice. I wish there was an extended version with a few more verses. RIP Christine.

My first favourite band, years before the Stones.
