And do you consider it a good way to use this forum? I mainly use an iPhone and I consider the format as archaic and barely useable by current standards. This forum hasn’t been updated in literally 20 years. Is there anyway to update this by donations?
Primarily my iPhone when at home. When at work, it’s the desktop PC. Time have changed so much. I recollect pre-smart phone, when I’d be internet-free all day. Checking Tell Me would be an essential part of the evening routine.
Desktop computer or smartphone. No, it wasn't designed for a smartphone screen, but it's fine by me. This is a personal site, and trying to throw money at the "problem" isn't going to buy you a flashy new format that won't work on half the world's devices and will be out of date as soon as it's introduced.
Whilst viewing IORR on a smartphone is hardly the optimum method, I’m so used to it now. The real drawback is posting messages. I’m not the best at typing on such a small device. I often find my messages littered with unintentional errors!
The best thing about iorr is: Even when I am in the middle of nowhere with barely reception at all (here in Germany here are many so called "Funklöcher" if you're on the countryside) and all the blown up "modern" websites wont load IORR still does!
Desktop or smartphone. I agree with others that it's perfect as it is, above all when compared to other fan forums that are soooo clogged up with other cr*p as to be totally unreadable.
And IORR is always extremely fast to load, which even makes it my benchmark for testing if I'm having problems loading any other website. If IORR loads as usual, which it invariably does, then I know that the problem is with the other website and not with my connection.
I remember some years ago when BV presented a possible alternative format for comment. Most people protested against it and begged him not to change anything, which thankfully he didn't.
Where as there are countless ways that our BV could ‘modernise’ our favourite site, I do have to fully concur with everyone else: the beauty of here is in it’s simplicity and user-friendliness. I should also add the other key ingredient: fabulous conversation on Tell Me!
and a series of old laptops and computers that i've salvaged from the trash and repaired or rebuilt
a lot of the time i'm on here i'm using a dell dimension 4700 from 2003 running windows xp (which i also use for all my audio projects that i post here)
i've also used a laptop i rebuilt running windows 98se to access iorr recently too and for the most part it worked just fine same with windows 2000
please bv don't change anything this site works great for me no matter how new or old the device i use is
