In every photo I've ever seen of Mick, every Stones show I've been to, every interview I've watched, he looks like he's in amazing shape, physically. It's eerie! Never once have I seen this son of a phys-ed instructor look even remotely like he should lose (or gain) a pound or two. But I'd be curious if I'm forgetting anything.

Yeah that's the time frame I was thinking about as well.

Though it's all relative...his 'out of shape' period is probably more in shape than 99% of the populations 'fittest moments'.

Not only 79/80 but already in the early mid seventies Mick felt his condition wasn't up to what you may expect from him being the energetic frontman of the Rolling Stones. In recorded interviews I remember seeing him with facial nerve contractions he didn't have under control and it worried me. The burden of keeping the band going during the seventies while Keith was under the influence of nasty chemicals was a heavy one for Mick.
Well, all turned out fine in the end and that's what counts
It was a real joy to be part of the energetic SIXTY tour! And I hope more is in the planning.

he's got such a primitive cool that he's always lucky with the ladies

in fact with out the ladies he'd go CRAZY!

but lately i've heard he's been running out luck

something about too many cooks and apperantly he's not willing to settle for 1/2 a loaf

I don’t think there’s anything spectacular about his physique during the 60’s; a time when, generally, the U.K.’a population didn’t overeat. What’s impressive is how he’s stayed in shape from his 40’s to present; when your metabolism slows and a lot more effort is required. There’s no doubting that Mick is incredibly careful with his consumption and exercising. Yes, I’m sure genetics play a role, but he must work hard to stay so lean and fit. Bravo, Mick!

Anyway! To answer your question: no, I don’t believe he’s ever been out of shape.

No worries!

I'm sure there are lots of reasons for Mick's fanatical devotion to exercise and careful diet but his father was surely a big influence, as a fitness instructor.

I seem to remember him say in 85' after his Live Aid performance in the press that he thought he was too old to Rock after his solo spot and duet with Tina.
He came back so much fitter in 89'

I find it amazing that after so many years of IORR, we can still come up with an original question.
