This is absolutely my favorite song from the Voodoo Lounge era (can't believe this did'nt make the album) My question to those familiar with this song does Jagger sound like he is trying to sound like Keith on the background vocals during the chorus.I don't think Keith is actually singing on this song but I could be wrong. Just curious if anyone else had ever thought the same thing or if anyone knows the seesion credits on this one.If this is Jagger he does one incredible Keith imitation.
Another great in a line of car songs Mick lurvs bein' 'round...hookem up like this and maybe he's trying to tell us something. Start Me Up...You Cant Catch Me...I'm Gonna Drive...Nothing But The Wheel.....Driving Too Fast.
One of them is definitely Ronnie Wood on backing vocals. And I think Keith, Mick and Ron should do backing vocals more often, also on stage (Mick during Keith's songs also!)...
I'm Gonna Drive is fantastic, as is Jump On Top Of Me!!!
Chelsea...bit off the Stones trail but it's a track from Peter Wolfs Sleepless with Mick doing great Exile style back-ups....Keith is also on the album helping out on a Sonny Boy Williamson number
Whew Rockman, that was fast! Thanks. I really must get that album. I've seen you quote it a few times lately. Speaking of: I just listened to Bobby Keys' soloalbum. LOL (that says it all - LOL) I mean the heart's in the right place but you know, the flesh is weak.
Yeah Chelsea...never heard the Bobby Keyes album but can kinda sense what it would sound like but I guess everyone has their place in a band...Hell even Keith admits in Bang DVD that he and Mick are a pretty poor rhythm section...!!
He wrote these 3 songs in a row?! Wow! He should do this kind of instant writing more often. Jump On Top Of Me is the song that should have been the single, not Love Is Strong. And the Storm is really strong, too.
Rockman, Brand New Car belongs on your list . . . and probably others that I'm overlooking. (I guess the car horn in Country Honk would not qualify that song for your list.)
Interestingly (to me as I like the band) several "Low Spark"-era Traffic members are on Bobby Keys' solo album, which lists no credits. Secondly, this thread reminds me of all the songs I hoped would be on "Rarities" - the Stones should have someone else excavating the archives, like the Dead have, their judgement is so skewed - "Jump On Top Of Me," "So Young" "Storm" the Scott Lit mix (not a dance mix) of I Go Wild, "Im Gonna Drive" "Cook Cook Blues" "Think i'M Going Mad" the killer long versions of "Undercover" and its b-side "Feel On Baby (Dub)" "Black Limousine" "All Down the Line" and Gimmie Shelter" from the Stripped singles, and "Honest I Do." A nice 2 cd set.
