Wasn't the jet-eagle designed by Christian Piper - [Collections.MuseumCA.org] , [www.RollingStone.com] , [iorr.org] ?

It’s sort of a John Pasche situation.Mick took the idea from a comic book and him and Charlie worked on it with Charlie doing the original sketches. Christian Piper did the final artwork from their ideas.

"Charlie and I also thought up the tour eagle [a jet divebomber and eagle hybrid that is the tour's symbol] - I got the idea from a Mexican comic book and Christian Piper, a German artist, worked it out."
