Seasons of the Stones

Here's a weird question for you all...

Are there any specific Stones albums that you like to listen to during specific seasons of the year?

For some reason, I love listening to Some Girls in the Fall and GHS in the winter...the rest I can listen to whenever.

I have the same feeling with certain albums, too. To me, Beggars Banquet is a winter album, while EOMS is the summer album par excellence.

I generally associate the albums with their release date.

Ex. - Voodoo = autumn, Emotional = summer

there are some albums - Beggars and LIB, for example - that i almost never think of putting on in the daylight.
hm, no wonder i like it when the nights start getting longer. :E

As a general rule my spring/summer soundtrack is usually made of live stuff.

Studio recordings are for autumn and winter.

The only exceptions are Undercover and Now. These two are normally played (at maximum volume) 365 day a year!!!

Maybe not so much season commited but i do have a certain daily habbit. In the morning i play a lot of early sixties stuff (the Brian albums, Black box and the BBC sessions), during the day i play a lot of Handsome girls and recent bootlegs ('89-present) and when it gets late in the night i listen to '72/'73 boots.

Cheers,
Wuudy

Great question...I agree that I prefer them at times that correspond to their original release dates...except for live ones which, to me, sound best when they correspond to the tour dates.

Good topic.

Spring - The London Years disc 3.
Summer - Voodoo Lounge.
Fall - Exile On Main Street.
Winter - Sticky Fingers.

That is a good Q. Undercover and Tattoo to me are winter, Xmas all the way. Exile and Some Girls are very summerish.

I feel very strongly about the connection between music and time of day/the season...

"Exile," "Goat's Head," "Black & Blue," and "Emotional Rescue" are summertime favorites.

"Beggar's" and "Let It Bleed" are for fall.

"Sticky Fingers" and "Ya Ya's" are wintertime albums.

By and large though, when the cold weather comes I go for the Band, Dylan and Neil Young.
