Didn't he mess one up last year ?

SMU-Intro in Edinburgh 2018 came close to 'Scarf Me Up' - [iorr.org] .

Thanks ! 4 years ago already, wow...inevitably such incidents are more likely to happen as years pile on.

Ah, that didn't sound too bad for a live show.. I was expecting a real train wreck based on how people were talking about it. Actually it's quite the fond reminder of what live rock shows were like when I was younger, we'd get blasted, have a blast, and go home and put on the record to see what the song actually should sound like.

Yeah v v quiet.

Why are they so private nowadays re their rehearsals ??

The buzz when we had people trying to hear outside was great.

It added to the anticipation and excitement of the tour starting.

Last week i was at the ziggo dome. As reported earlier, There is really nothing to see or hear. From a nearby parking you can only see people walking on the bridge between the two buildings that form ziggo dome. I also was the hotel this week. What is really a issue for the Stones this tour is COVID I think. All personel is wearing face masks. I think They really want to keep COVID out of this tour.

Covid-19 is still around. Even if many countries are past the strong rules of masks and other limitations in the general population, The Rolling Stones do still perform high security measures of avoiding covid-19 also on this tour, like they did last year in USA.

This means member of crew etc wearing masks, to and from shows, also hotel staff with masks. That is a low cost as compared to loosing a show due to some key person being knocked out with covid-19.

For the fans it would be a nightmare to loose a show due to cancellation. For the tour management it will be a loss around ten million us dollars or so per show, a significant value worth protecting.

People should keep this in mind when approaching band members for autographs or similar. Protecting the tour should be essential.

This is just to tell why there is a low profile now, in many ways. I do not want any covid-19 discussion here.

That is a key point here. Lots of people still get knocked out by covid. The numbers in Germany are going down but are still in the 100s per 100.000. Its not gone.

Eric Clapton, a member of Pearl Jam...a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers...cases rising again just about everywhere...
Makes sense that the Stones are trying to keep it as safe and undercover as possible, but maybe an insider will leak out some info. eventually.

Thank you for the post BV. I'm feeling a little more secure about everything. After all no news about rehearsals is a small price to pay in comparison to a postponed show or cancellation. Just 12 more days and we can all be a little happier about the tour.smileys with beer

Bjornulf I understand that you don’t want Covid-19 discussion. But Dolf just mentioned it to make clear why the Stones and all personel are wearing masks. I think he has a good point. Don’t think he brought it up for discussion. smiling smiley

That song hasn't aged well at all, but to be fair it was pretty bad when it was first released.
Thought it was mercifully long forgotten and buried after the Licks tour, and I'm hoping the don't play it - there's hundreds of better choices.

you'd rather have the warhorses?

i agree the studio version is not the best work they've ever done

but i think the live versions are often much more better

i'd frankly be happy with any different song in the set even if it's not there best

back to zero anyone?

I didn't say I'd rather have the warhorses - I said "there's hundreds of better choices". That being said, yes I'd rather hear all the warhorses over Don't Stop any day.
Seems such a waste of space to have the weak Don't Stop in a limited 19 song setlist while there are so many other better choices of neglected, unplayed, or rarely played tunes.
Having seen and heard Don't Stop live multiple times during the Licks tour, all I can say is they were right to never play it again after that tour, and not sure why they would want to resurrect it after all these years.

I could do without “Don’t Stop,” too. But it’s kinda nice to see the Stones pr machine getting sentimental.

It’s likely not a coincidence that a song released for their 40th anniversary tour is unearthed for a 60th anniversary tour promo.
