Many folks do not care for it. I know never played live & do not think ever will. I Like the tune. Sort of repetitive I give it a B- or 6.75/10. Kind of a mood piece know what I mean. What do you think of the song? Mez
Mood piece is correct at its best time i would go with 7...but at its worst not much lower. I like it very much although prefer some of the other slower ones on that album
I always thought it was pretty much on par with the excellent "Worried About You." A kind of glossy urban soul track. Another very cool facet of the Stones. Love Jagger's vocal.

Glossy urban track. Nicely said Reverend! Give it a 6.694. Never dug the concept of a slow side on a Stones album. So I don't give TY the reverence many others do. Give me some Dirty Work instead!
Didnt really appreciate it at first (probably because of its original status as a B-side) , but now I think its friggin beautiful and one of their most under rated songs
Excellent lyrics, the singing is absolutely terrific and musically just wonderful (like the way it just stops dead for a couple of seconds). Beautiful guitar work.
Oh I don't think it is weakest point of TY at all. Nothing on Side 2 could be called that. (See Hang Fire or Neighbors for that). But I think Jagger is excellent on this song. The echo at the end of the verses is beautiful. The song has that soul groove in 6/8 tempo that is so ...authentic. Only word I can come up with. There is something about these melancholic torch ballads like "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" where the 6/8 tempo fits so well. The slight stutter and pusating of the beat; that short lag before the snare hit gives it like a heartbeat. The harmonies in the chorus are also great. Today we would have gotten Bernard all over it. It's good to hear Keith and Ron's voices in there in the higher register. Any song that has Jagger crying about "looking way out on the track.." "down at the station" is going to be a winner.
I dig that whole ballad side of Tattoo You although I always wondered why they divided that album into a "rocker" side and a "slow" side. Maybe because there were so many slow ones?
9 out of 10, tattoo you for me is the most 'compact' album ever. I love the concept with the rockin' a-side and the slower but nonetheless great b'side.

it works perfectly
they did something similar on Exile by deliberately having a 'quieter' side on that record (side 2)
