Just watched the 1-minute-clip someone (many thanks!) provided on Shidoobee!
I'm in a hurry now, I'll provide a link later - or you find it there in the thread about the 2nd Bowl concert.

Anyway, sometimes they really really surprise me - the version is fantastic! Very nice guitars, excellent vocals, subtle piano - I love it!
Hope we get a bootleg soon and that's really a song I'd love to hear in concert when they come to Europe!

i was at the hollywood bowl....about 10 rows from the b-stage when the stones performed this song.

as i was standing there i saw the acoustic guitars coming out. i said to myself....hmmmmm... accoustic....what can this be?????

since they had played bitch earlier in the evening i figured we were going to hear dead flowers....which i have seen them do many times with the accoustic guitars....then keith plays the opening chords to NOT FADE AWAY to check the tuning....and i start getting more interested....

next mick says "we are going to do a really ancient one" he tells the crowd about how this is one of the first songs he and keith ever wrote and how they gave it to someone else to record before they finally recorded it themselves....and i knew it was AS TEARS GO BY.

for me being there, it was a great moment....not as good as when they played DOWN THE ROAD APIECE in philly in 81.....but still a great moment.

it was definitely the song of the night at the hollywood bowl, and as for hearing it done again i think you may just have a shot.

when they were done playing it, mick said "hmmmmm, that sounded really good, we may have to do that one a few more times."

i screamed my approval as loud as i could hoping they would hear me and listen!!!!

i would really love to see the stones do this with one song every night. pick something old...really old...something they have either never played in concert or have not played since pre 67......that way the old timers like me can walk away from every concert saying wow...i can't believe i saw them do that live....

that is what i was saying as i exited the hollywood bowl.....and now more than 24 hours later i am still saying it.....
